I have a 383 that I got rebuilt at a machine shop,,short version,,I wiped out the cam but I am now putting it back together and noticed that the rear oil hole for the cam bearing only has about 1/16 of the oil hole lined up with the cam bearing hole and another one only has about half the hole...

there was about 4 lifters that where snug but i could still pull them out by hand and I dont see any scratchs on the bore, the last one will have to come out once the engine is on the stand. Once the machine shop opens for the day I'll call them and have them check thier numbers to make sure...

was just on the comp site and it says that the cam the machine shop installed needs to have adjustable valve train and requires machining on the heads. The people that machined and built the short block were also the ones that did my heads. Wonder if they put the wrong cam in it and its binding...

yup,,,I ripped er down,, the cylinder walls look ok,,,but the cam and half the lifters are a mess, one won't even come out the top and will need to go in to remove it. I heated mine with a small propane torch to soften it, then used a 3 in. scrapper to take it off. Then you really heat up the residue that is left and it will turn hard and crumbly then a wire wheel on a drill will get the rest.

yup theres 2 on one terminal, It is a 340 harness could it be the stop idle solinoid? and if it is could I use it for my electric choke instead. and thanks for the help and response
