A855 - 5 Speed

-
Speedometer.
Used my original speedometer pinion adapter and gear, ordered new seals from Brewers.
There is a gm, I believe, o-ring seal that fits the pinion adapter perfectly, and it has a metal ring molded in as well as a spring.
I set the stock seal down in the pinion where it sits, and put the other one on top.
Seals better and supports the speedo gear better too.

I got it off ebag, cheapest by far and fastest shipping.

YOU MUST INSTALL THE SPEEDOMETER CABLE BEFORE INSTALLING THE TRANS.

I hope that is clear. I 'messaged' the floor as well as there is literally no space for the cable to even exist there without more space.
The cable has a straight metal section at the base, so it can't immediately make a right turn, Clyde.
In the future, I will be cutting an access panel in the floor.

My speedo cable is for a full size 67 Mopar.
67 is an odd ball year cable, screw on at both ends. I couldn't locate a 67 a-body cable, and the full size is longer, which is needed.

The 5 speed has the speedo on the top right, passenger side. I like it better as it seems it's less likely to leak, but make sure you have the speedo gear you want and new seals before installing.

Geezuz, what do you have to go thru to post anything. Total PITA. I wanted to let you know they used to make speedo adapters which would probably fit your situation. Somewhere I have one made out of aluminum and another out of bakelite. They are kind of a z-shape with a threaded female collar on one end and another male threaded end on the other end opposite side. The inside has little interchangeable gears, where you can "tune" the gear reductions to your particular application. I apologize if I'm repeating a previous comment, I didn't want to scroll thru 19pages.

you can get a GPS speedo adapter and forget about adapters for the transmission. I have mine since 3 years and works fine regardless of trnamission, tire size, etc.

The Tremec T56 Magnum swap has been done enough times now -> just forget about ever returning the car to stock (you're not going to anyway), do the ToddRon crossmember and the T56 Magnum, proven stuff, liberty can face plate it, whatever you think you need. It's even the Chevy LS transmission so these will be around forever. Once you get the crossmember in and the floor figured out, the rest is frankly very easy.
I won't be returning to stock, and I would be willing to cut the original 4 speed hump out (and stash it away with everything else original) however I'd have to get rid of the bench seat.
I like my bench seat, it's amazingly comfortable and I like the look, I didn't even know a bench seat was a thing in a 67-69 Barracuda before I saw mine for sale.
I'm a little attached to it, and the 4 speed doesn't bother me on the highway, but a 5 or 6 speed would make it 'complete' in my mind (that and power windows, ha!).

Got the efi, swaybars and junk already, maybe, some day, I'll ditch the bench for some modern seats and a 5+ speed.
Is there a list I need to be on somewhere?

Other than the year wait for seat covers, just the same list on which you can find the rest of us. That of the psychiatrist, to help us cope with our Mopar obsession.

Was that an official statement of some sort, or are they just no longer taking orders?
I don't know much about this.
However my brother has one of the transmissions.
There was a problem they sent him a new one.
Jamie told him they were no longer.
From what my brother said it was investors not Jamie.
They were the ones trying to cut corners and use substandard parts ?
So it folded.
It would be cool if a company with backing bought it and used better parts in the problem areas.

Mopar Collector's Guide has a write-up on this. Read the article for details but it does not say they stopped making them. He made it sound like he was pushed out of that ordeal, so the investors are running the show, if I understand it correctly.

Could the under side of bench seat frame be modified to clear a larger trans tunnel? I saw a build on a vintage Chevy truck where they put in over drive trans and modified bench seat frame to clear the bigger tunnel. Might also be able to put spacers between seat and floor raise seat a tad to minimize seat frame mode.

Well that’s a damn shame. I have one new in the crate sitting in the garage for the past 5 years. Who knows if I’ll have problems with it or not.

From what I heard the investors and Jamie didn’t see Eye 2 Eye they wanted to put cheaper parts in like somebody mentioned so Jamies left or got pushed out. I sure they had to buy him out. They’re still in business, they’re just not making any new ones at the moment. They are just servicing them if needed. I bet they are trying to get other venders to make cheaper parts.

"They" wanted to use cheaper parts has been one of the bs lines since day 1.

The "Investors" is John Huff, the guy who took the hundreds of thousands of dollars he made from his restaurant and invested in this fiasco, while driving around in his own personal b-body with an A855 that popped out of 4th.
Huff is also the guy who took trans on 'the list' slated for someone else and sold them and kept the cash.

Jamie, poor Jamie, the guy who did not design/build/repair the A855.

Same guy who never chimes in on the Mopar forums or takes accountability for the trans with his name on it?

Was pushed out because he was the stand up one with character and morals?

I just don't understand how anyone can surmise he was just an innocent victim, or someone else is to blame, based on little to no information, or some blurb in a magazine, or I got a good trans therefore he's a good guy.

For me and mine, and anyone who read this thread, this was over a year of multiple interactions with everyone involved, phone, email, text, direct in person. It's the recovery that matters people.

Make no mistake, there are also those in the Mopar world who are stand up reputable people, some who do similar work, who know what's up.

So now that he's removed it from his website, except for a small pic of it because he's never thorough, can we all expect he'll be reaching out to all those who have an A855?

I mean, if it were me, and the trans was my last name, I would definitely want to be ahead of this, but how?

If only there was a way to reach millions of people immediately, some kind of social platform, some type of media, or possibly specific automotive forums?

I guess he'll just have to hide in a corner in PA and keep his mouth shut, as usual, as, “It is better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”

Maybe we will get lucky, and they will fix the problems with the Trans.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they can bring the cost down so we can afford one.

Well, not sure, however the thread below is the first time I have ever seen a pic of a TKX with a bench.
Waiting for a reply on my question: Are you still able to move the seat as forward as before the TKX?

TKX Shifter Location

Well that’s not good news! I’ve got a brand new one still in the crate. I’ve had it for several year’s, haven’t had time to start on my project car yet. Hopefully when I get around to using it, it works properly!

It was closing in on $8k before it was removed from the website.
Before tax, shipping, and anything else needed for your situation, shifter handle, 18 spline clutch, etc.
Maybe we will get lucky, and they will fix the problems with the Trans.
I highly doubt it.
Would also need to fix many other aspects, shipping, service, accountability, brain capacity.

I truly hope it works for both of you.
If it does, at least you can get many years of trouble free cruising.

I often thought, if I had all the money in the world, I would have kept mine or bought another and paid someone smarter than me to determine the issue(s).
Then I think, since, in my mind only, I have all the money in the world, just do the right thing and start from scratch.

yup, agree.... the kinda guy who will not be beaten by a challenge. gonna need a few across his workbench to get a handle on the situation, and YES i'd watch that video....

Maybe they'll sell it to Tremic and put TKX internals inside and sell a bunch to the Mopar Community!
