Not sure I will be ready by the 31st. It’s still supporting the motor and car and I don’t want to take it out until the subframe connectors and torque boxes are in. At least not until the subframe connectors anyways. I can take some pictures tomorrow though and my plan is to work on said...

Subframe connectors for a driver/cruiser, necessary to weld to floor?

I'm getting close to installing USTC subframe connectors on my '65 Barracuda FS project. The reason for installing them is to (hopefully) eliminate the body flex that causes cracking at the base of the rear window. My body man did put extra welds in the corner joints, but also encouraged me to...

Convertibles had reinforcements in the rockers and torque boxes. Subframe connectors may help. I doubt you'll get it as strong as the factor did, close enough? Alan

US Car Tool Torque Boxes and Sub Frame Connectors Install

Looking to see if anyone has experience installing the US Car Tool torque boxes and subframe connectors. My questions is, do you stitch weld the subframe connectors to the floor pan, or completely weld them? I think the torque boxes would get weld completely, but the subframe connectors would...

Although drop tops are reinforced in the rockers, I think subframe connectors would be a plus!

@DionR I told him I was happy that I sold him the drug that is known as autocross and now he can't go back since he drank the kool aid. He proceeds to put those comments in AI to generate those photos. F-ing hilarious!

Hard time keeping my mitts off.

This 72/318/904 Dart is very nearly completely stock, and I’m having a hard time keeping my hands off it. It’s so tempting to do a 4 barrel, dual exhaust, headers, subframe connectors and custom wheels. No no no, keep your frikin hands off dummy. My more sensible inner voice keeps me from it.

@racerjoe, did you put subframe connectors on your car? Torque boxes? I read the start of the thread up to when you painted it and didn't see anything, nor did a search turn up anything. Sorry if I missed it.

at a minimum, tie the front and rear-- this is the most common, search "subframe connectors". you can buy or build them. from there it depends on what your plans are with the car. just a cruiser and bruiser, i don't know i'd go much further than that. if competition, i'd be rethinking from the...

Need advise on Sub frame connectors

Every early Mopar can benefit greatly from adding subframe connectors. Personally I used 2x3 square stock because 3 inch fits perfect over the existing rear subframe section. I could see the benefit of the US Cartool connectors being welded to the floor pan, but for a driver type car I think...

    K-frame alignment?

No subframe connectors. The stands are on the frame rail in front of the torsion bar xmember. Probably doesn't matter but the rear axle is on stands too. I wonder if it would help to use a jack under the k-frame instead? ETA: I ain't all that excited about being under the car without the...

While you have it on the rotisserie would be a good time to install subframe connectors, instead of trying to weld overhead.

Subframe connectors for a driver/cruiser, necessary to weld to floor?

...the '68 has a back seat, I ended up pushing the 2x2 tubing through the floor, marking it, slicing off the sides where it penetrated into the cab, and rewelding the top back on while welding it to the floor from the top. Now, the carpet lays flat. Lots of ways to skin a cat on subframe connectors.

    Motor plate question

With that kind of horsepower and torque, I would be looking into reinforcing the frame, cage, down bars, and subframe connectors. Especially in a unibody car of that age. Nice looking engine.
