I used to work at the "little town " hardware store. Prices were higher than the "bigger " stores but we offered service. Don't shop at many mom n pop hardwares because, as you've documented, a BUNCH can be saved elsewhere.

I had a bed load of parts at a show, backed in, unloaded, pulled forward, unloaded the rest. Could not see out the rear cap window stuff piled up so high. When we left, it barely come to the top of the wheelhouse...kept looking under the truck, thought I had backed over some parts. Best $ show...

how many trees do you have around the garage? is the roof insulated? which way does the door face. I have one large tree on the east side, no insulation and it faces south. It'll stay cool on days like today until 10 or so, then, to warm to work. maybe I should use the fans I have.
