    Petronix Electronic Ignition Any Good?

What happend to the points distributor that came with it? https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/best-electronic-ignition-setup-for-a-273.562633/post-1974700725 The timing curve is more important than what is used to fire it off. Granted, if it doesn't work, then having the correct curve...

    Petronix Electronic Ignition Any Good?

Since when? Even the race distributor came with one long looped heavy spring and a fast low spring rate primary spring. Two light springs were sold seperately for those who wanted - possibly for the dual point drag race setups. When Mallory made the MP vacuum advance distributors for Mopar...

Especially for a first look, cleaning and then getting everything dry so the gasket seals, that's not surprising it took a chunk of the day. Same here. Too much time here spent trying to be helpful, and a run to the supermarket, and little cleaning. Didn't make it to the garage at all. I...

Here's some posts about crimping open barrel terminals (aka F-type, or W style) Checking crimps Lets Talk Open Barrel Crimpers - Reviews and Discussion A bit of Wiring 101 Soldered joints have a place too. Opinions differ on when they are needed or better. Heat shrink tubing can be had...

It doesn't take much resistance to cause problems. Another thing that many of us used to be too casual about is the wire routing and support. I know I used to think "why did the factory support the cables in so many places? It makes it difficult to wrench on whatever it was I was working on."...

We can see the crimps and terminals are medicore. Each of those will cause additional resistance. Also the terminals have exposed conductors which may already be causeing problem because the insulation is not supported. This allows stress and movement right at the connection. Such as seen here...

Dash lights will not turn off!! 72 dart

Lets take a winch or plow that gets run while the engine is running. I've only seen the wired to the battery positive - some of the other guys maybe have seen some other arraignments but this is typical. When the engine is running and the plow needs power, power is going to flow from the...

Dash lights will not turn off!! 72 dart

With my '67 I choose to run a second alternator output wire in parallel instead of replacing the original R6. Since I already had a headlight relay harness connected at the alternator, I kept that too. If it wasn't already done thatway, I would have connected at new distribution point (single...

Dash lights will not turn off!! 72 dart

Anything connected at the battery will draw power through the battery feed/charge wires. When the alternator is working the ammeter will show current flowing to the battery plus current flowing to whatever has been tied in at the battery. That additional current is going through all those...

Saw that on parts of I-80 too. Just off of I80 in PA, Connecting to 322. Truck pulling out of Walmart at this intersection was following the law. Semi came up behind me just as the light turned green and had not read the signs. He went into the turning lane with full brakes on as I was...

Put a headlight relay harness on the car and that's 9 amps that will never have to be shared on the alternator output wires or go through the bulkhead connector. :) Bonus is you get brighter headlights.

Dash lights will not turn off!! 72 dart

Its an all too common belief. As you can see your ammeter did not cause the problem. The ammeter only shows what flows in and out of the battery. Jeeps with electric winches or plows can have issues with the battery circuit because of the heavy load directly on the battery - the alternator...
