    Flywheel specs

Yeah, it's just a no brainer. I even have the same dealio for my Ford T5 swap. I got a real NOS B&B scalloped pressure plate and a 10" disc with the T5 spline count. Perfect for a hot slant 6.

Need a solution for a problem.

I like the way you think, but the slant can be fun with a 1:1 A833. If I was you I’d either swap in a non od 4 speed, or swap to a 5 speed. A V8 will make the split more tolerable but that transmission will never be fun, in my opinion, and from my experience running one behind a slant and a...

Power Steering Parts for 1966 Dart 6 cyl

The return hose should be all one size - 5/8th to match the pump and the box. So it’s possible the pump has been replaced in the past with one with a 3/8in hose return port. Check with Steer and Gear as I sent them a correct slant pump with the 5/8th port as a credit trade-in when I had them...

63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

Your work looks great. It's funny, you are building the same car I have and you are finding the same inspiration I did. I kept the chrome and didn't do the matte finish, but did also go with a green. I wanted green to begin with and this is how I found that car. I just wish I went the full...

Shocks: looking for Blistein quality at KYB price.

really? do you have a link or a pic of some kind of literature, because that's the first i've ever heard of that. i've parted a grip of 73~76 cars and never seen anything bigger than the standard V8 bars.

    Transmission for push-button Barracuda

Engine mount location/ K- frame is the same.64 and 65 models. You'll need to ensure the motor has the brackets. You will need the V8 Centerlink as mentioned. It has a greater drop to accommodate the oil pan. V8 Torsion bars would be good. They are slightly thicker than the slant 6...

68 Barracuda Front Suspension Rebuild Kit

Yep, definitely gonna need pictures. Could be that you have an entire '73+ V8 K frame. Or the original '68 /6 K with conversion engine mounts. Or just about any combination of '67-76 K frame and engine mounts to get from a /6 to a V8.

    Finally!

First order of business is to find a 8 3/4 axle housing in A-body length. The Newport also gave up its 8 3/4” differential to the project! It’s not a sure-grip though. :(

    273 or 225?

As much as I love slant sixes, you're already talking about a V8, so it would be dumb to try to talk you out of that. People build slant sixes because of the love of them and to be different. They'll never be a V8 and lots of people end up disappionted by that, because they jump into the slant 6...

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

Swapping a 64 dart to a 360 magnum from the slant 6. I know I need to change out to the v8 drag link but I'm not about to pay that much for one. I don't see why I can't cut and weld the part I got and and thinking about going that route. Saw one guy shimed the engine up but I don't like the...

I will grab the part numbers but I swapped from a slant 6 to a magnum 318. I bought some used 318 torsion v8 bars. I’ll look up the part number. Here’s an old pic of the ad If I recall correctly, they are .850 bars

    the right pitman arm

I have 71 Plymouth duster slant six car with power steering and i was looking for the right pit-man arm they sell two different kinds with different spine numbers ... so i am not sure which one to get i am guessing the difference is manual and power steering gearbox? or maybe the slant 6 got a...

    273 or 225?

Hey all, Im trying to rebuild my ‘66 Dart and have came to yet another dilemma. My recent intentions were to rebuild the stock slant in the car, and try to hot rod it out a little bit, but now a new opportunity has risen. I found a ‘65 with a 273 that I could use as a parts car to make the swap...

Slant-Six to LA small block conversion.

Hi, I have some questions about converting my 1966 Australian Valiant from the slant-six to a 273, 318, 340, 360 small block. I have a reconditioned 904 torqueflite which has been used with my slant-six. Can this torqueflite be used behind a small-block V8? Also, can I use the six cylinder...

    273 or 225?

Early A’s use the same K member for v8 and slant. He just needs the motor mount brackets. If he goes aftermarket/Schumacher v8 mounts he won’t need the drop center link, as they raise the engine enough to clear the link. The v8 throttle bracket and the exhaust manifolds are all he really needs...

Flywheel ? for the /6 guys

It is possible I am wrong. Don't have a lot of experience with trucks. My 64 D-100 has a bell housing that would only fit the slant six. Trans is a A-833OD. I have a flywheel and clutch on hand, that is used with the NP435, and it requires a larger bell housing then the one on my 64 D-100. The...

[WANTED] Looking for 4 door a body

Wanting to buy a 4 door valiant or dart from 67-73 Don’t care about the paint, don’t want too much rust to deal with. Gotta be decent mechanically. Would prefer manual brake and manual steering car. Slant six or v8 welcome. Closer to southern Georgia the better.

Who else ever felt this way?

I slap fell in love with mine and it was a 170. The little car would scoot. It was very responsive. I WAS going to shoehorn a 400 in it, but I kept it a slant 6 and put this warmed over 225 in it. It puts a smile on my face every single time I drive it.

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

Since the slant six is "two holes down" it's a much more systematic approach than a V8. INstead of putting on one part at a time and seeing results, the slant six needs all the systems upgraded to see good results. I had the stock manifold on mine ported and the outlet opened up to 2.5" and ran...

for what it's worth I'm extremely satisfied with my suspension rebuild which included .92" torsion bars and 6 leaf HD rear springs over my stock .85"/5 leaf springs in my slant 6 duster. work well with KYB's,not harsh at all. upped the wheel rate to 150 lb/in in the front/130 rear from the...

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

I'm sayin this once more, now see if it gets through. You may not need the V8 center link. I 360 swapped my 65 Valiant years ago and did not use one. I used the same slant 6 center link the car came with. Clearance was close. I think there was like 1/8" if I remember right, but this is a...

    [Found!] 63-66 A Body Z Bar

That’s good to know, I almost ordered one from brewers for the 273 because I figured it was the same. I don’t have a z bar as I got the car without the transmission, but I’m picking up an a230 from a 71 duster slant 6 on Monday, so I’ll have that z bar but I don’t think it will work.

    273 or 225?

Off topic, but if that 65 has a hood on it in decent shape, I’d buy it from you. I’m just over near Sacramento. I’m building a 225/4 speed 65 Dart, if I wanted to go V8 I’d start with a 318 magnum from a junk yard vs the 273. JMO.

    Coverting from a slant 6 to a 360.

Welcome to the site! To put the the V8 in there, you'll need adapting motor mounts/or a V8 K-frame. You'll need a form of V8 exhaust (be it manifolds or headers). The slant six electrical wiring will work (distributor, oil pressure gage, alt wires, etc) but the lengths may not be exact...
