    I have seen them everywhere. Pretty much the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen, and I'm 70 years old... To me they look like something out of a cheap, bad science fiction movie from the 40's or 50's. My grand daughter and her friends were going on how ridiculous they were this summer.

    AFB small opening with velocity valve, brass idle adjuster. Auto carbs are significantly different than 4 speed carbs, different primary boosters for one.

    67 and 68 Fastback Formula S Barracudas. Nothing looks like them. The interior is so sweet with the fold down rear seat. One of the best all around road cars made in my opinion.

    Welcome from SC! The bouncing ammeter could just be the mechanical voltage regulator, get a new solid state voltage regulator almost anywhere. I'll second disconnecting the battery and taking the alternator in for testing.

    I looked up an ESSO tune up guide for a "1967" 273 Commando and it lists compression check from 130-165 psi minimum variation of 25 psi. 1966 for the same engine is 150-180 psi and a 2 barrel 273 as 120-150 psi.

    I'd go 500 to 650 with an AVS2 or if you can find a good 750 TQ. 800 cfm is a little crazy on a 273. You have a 630 cfm 69 AVS right? Should work great on that manifold. The TQ works because it has small primaries and an adjustable secondary air valve.

    383 torsion bars and front sway bar are thicker on "68" 383 Formula S Barracudas than 340 Formula S Barracudas. .89 diameter torsion bars and .94 front sway bar on my 68 Formula S automatic Barracuda.

    Check the bore first, Magneflux the heads, then get back to us. Probably won't need much. The auto trans is also a keeper, 4.2 kick down lever. Just change the filter and fluid (you can also drain the torque converter), reseal, adjust the bands, and up the pressure.
