    \6 Valve cover?

If you are using them for interior decorating, then coordinate them with your interior colors. Forget about what color the engines were.

    newbie slant 6 question..simple one

Very recently there was a guy in Seattle selling a couple of Hemi slants. You could double-check CL.

    What cam are you running?

Well, Moparchick, at this point the engine is currently being built on the stand while I try to get the car through DEQ ( smog emissions) with the stock engine. Once it passes, I get can get 2 years of smoggy-free use out of the car, or even apply for lifetime plates. I have not yet...

    What cam are you running?

Yes, the overlap is what gives that cool "cammy" sound. Kind of a bummer since I am running a blower and need to use a cam with very little overlap. Hence, no "rumpity rump" for me. I will have to be content with that whine.

    Slant six help needed!

Slant sixes had lousy carburetors. Always a "usual suspect" with any running problems. Also with the ethanol in the gas, the accelerators pumps go away faster.

    Where to start

First: Are you carbing or using forced induction? If carbing, then get the compression up. If blowing, leave it low. Then it is a matter of matching-up the right components that work together: cam/carb/manifold/headers according to the RPM you want to run, the gears you have, etc. The guys on...

    Some more head questions

The reason I bought the valves was only a little bit about size. I liked= that they are high quality, stainless valves. I know that .080 is not a dramatic improvement in size, but frankly, what is the difference between a 1.88 valve and a 1.92 valve? Only .040, yet guys will go out of their way...

    Some more head questions

Guide checking procedure: If you can wiggle the valves back and forth in the guides without the springs installed, they need knurling ( which few guys really want to do anymore) or replacement. As far as your valve size and installation, I have the same ones sitting in a box, so I am waiting...

Daydreaming about a super duper slant...

I also like the dual carb look. But the look I like even better is the "blower-with-Hilborn-scoop-through-the-hood" look. That is what I am starting on right now. Got my blower, engine, pistons and oversized valves. Just need to finish my car's interior and paint and then it will be time to...

    Rebuild

Milling the head and bringing up the compression is the first and best thing you can do once you have established that the engine is in good shape. Without this, a cam means little and a 4bbl means even less. You can mill the head .060-.100 or deck the block, or a combination of the two...

    Why the /6

I am 51, and have had my fill of "normal" engines and cookie cutter hotrods. Look! There's a Duster! Open the hood! Oh, its a crate 360. *yawn*

    Why the /6

Got so lucky and found a '75 slant engine on CL for $100. The '75 has the peanut plugs and hardened seats, but still had the forged crank. Exactly what I wanted! Got my 1.70/1.44 valves. Now trying to figure out how to retrofit my B&M blower to it! I got slant sickness! Somebody stop me!

    What do you guys think?

They should fit with no problem. Anything that will fit an A-body will find even more room in an E-Body. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. I will be using the same headers in my Volare. As for the prices. You can get this stuff at these prices pretty frequently. The ceramic coated hooker...

    Tighter emmisions standards

You have to understand Oregon politics. Here, if someone ran on the platform of reforming or getting rid of DEQ testing,or if a referendum was put on the ballot, an ad would show up on TV that goes- "Joe Teabag, and anyone who votes for him, WANTS dirty air and water! They want to reduce our...

    Tighter emmisions standards

Yes, the problems have gotten tougher since actual tailpipe emissions are no longer what they are after. If it were about emissions, then what difference does it make how it got there? The whole "Looking at the car to make sure nothing has been changed", or "flunking the car because it has a...

Does anyone know what these headers will fit.

Hence, $250 was not too much, since someone apparently had no problem buying them for that. People can ask retard prices for things and some dumbass will always buy it for that. People need to pull their heads out of their rear ends and stop paying new prices for used parts.

    valves ticking i think

Why don't slants have a cold static setting for the rockers? You would think that someone could make the setting adjustment for the difference in the heat. In other words, if the rocker setting is .012 hot, then it would maybe be .014 cold. Could someone take a properly adjusted overhead and...

Some pics from a junkyard jaunt

Around here, there is no telling what a slant is going to list for on CL or in a junkyard. I have seen running engines go for $100, but have also seen cylinder head cores list for $300. There is a guy north of here selling a rebuilt slant for $3200. Just no rhyme or reason to any of it.

    Porting a slant six head

I have no pics, but here are some simple terms: Looking directly at the port in normal installed position: the floor is the bottom, the walls are the sides and the roof is the top. Now flip the head on its back, with the chambers up toward you. With the valve removed, the bowl is what you see...

    slant headers

Summit sells the Offy valve cover for $159 shipped, which is a better price than some guys are selling used.
  28. LTOP

    What cam are you running?

Exhaust valves and ports need only be 3/4 of intake size. It is much easier to empty a chamber by pushing out than it is to fill it by sucking in through a carb and a manifold. Even though this is my first slant engine, I am a big believer in porting. When you think about it, people pay big...

    300 hp slant

Hi all! Newbie here! I find building a new kind of engine intriguing and fun. I really loved building AMCs and winning with them back in the day. Now I have a Mopar project. I had the options of SB, BB or /6 and went /6, just for the fun of it. In the end, there is always someone faster. And...
