    New Goodies

Running great! Drove her 4-5k miles last year, including a 300 mile round trip down to Oregon. Went 70 mph down the whole way. Even after a couple months of slumber, a few pumps of the gas pedal and it lit right off. Looking forward to car cruise season!

    New Goodies

Hello! Long time no see. I've been buried in school and work lately, and I still am! But I took a weekend to go to the Portland Swap Meet. I wasn't really needing anything, but you can't NOT go to a major swap meet. Turns out, I did need something! This is a 68 Barracuda dash. I've always...

318 Can't keep fuel in filter, stalls when hot.

Hello! Alright so my boyfriend and I are trying to figure this one out and it has us scratching our heads. He's got a 67 Dart with a 78 318/904 combo. Budget junkyard rebuild, new seals and bearings with a 340-esque cam. Mechanical fuel pump and stock tank. He's been driving it as is for a few...

Drive train vibration. Scratching my head.

Holy crap! I literally came on here to post about dang near the exact problem. Above 65 mph is when it starts to get that low frequency vibration and "whoomp, whoomp, whoomp". 65+mph the vibration starts is higher (the oscillation gets faster) and the vibration gets a bit worse. Happened with my...

Something got dropped off at my Mechatronics lab!

The robot was around 60k, I believe the controller was around 30-60k? I'm sure there was some educational discount.

Something got dropped off at my Mechatronics lab!

Oh for sure. The instructor told me the price and I was surprised. THEN he told me that was just for the robot itself. The whole control cabinet was separate. Yikes! That is super cool! We've got mini Fanuc robots for training, and I have my Level 1 CERT from them as well. We'll be diving into...

Something got dropped off at my Mechatronics lab!

A full sized Kuka industrial robot! All electrical, capable of a payload of 130 lbs. A bit of background. I'm a student studying Mechatronics, which, before you ask, is a mixture of mechanical and electrical engineering with programming thrown in. Highly focused on manufacturing and automation...

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

After beginning this project with my Dart in January of 2019, I began by ripping out the slant six and trans for a complete rebuild and overhaul of the drivetrain. All was going to go well until I was told the block was bad and not worth repairing. Even after obtaining a second slant six block...

LOLOL, film cameras, DSLR's, Canon focusing screens

I've always heard about the Canon eye focus and wondered if it worked accurately. I just spotted an article stating that they might/are going to bring back that eye focusing with their new mirrorless lineup. Pretty neat stuff, especially for back then! Do you still use your film bodies?

A904 Kickdown Lever on Trans not Moving

I have my reasons for buying a transmission. I've attempted to rebuild one first and I ended up spending a lot of time trying to diagnose issues that weren't changing at all. I absolutely hate having somebody else build things for me, but I couldn't have my car sitting anymore. Anyways, closing...

A904 Kickdown Lever on Trans not Moving

Additional tidbit. When placed in park, parking pall is not engaging fully : driveshaft still sounds I hear the pall 'clicking' as if it's not fully seated properly. I don't that has anything to do with it, but definitely a problem. I'm real tempted to take the valve body out but I will call...

A904 Kickdown Lever on Trans not Moving

Almost done with installing a fresh V8 A904 and we're on the middle of installing a Lokar kickdown cable. We hook up the cable, and we try to move the lever on the trans back. It wasn't moving, so we removed the cable and try to push the lever back. It won't : it stops hard when you should start...

Street Cruiser, Do I Need a Custom Torque Converter?

Oh, dang! Guess you can't forget about a forum post without people getting grumpy. Sorry, I've got full time work and full time school. Keeps a person preoccupied for sure. But! I do appreciate all the advice, I really do. I've called Precision and their very friendly people advised me the...

Street Cruiser, Do I Need a Custom Torque Converter?

Hey all, So I've been thinking about it lately that I've put some good money and time into my engine and transmission, but really cheaped out on a torque converter. Right now I've got a 360 small block with: stock heads, 9.5:1 compression, 204/dur cam with 109 lobe separation and .450 valve...

904 Clutch Clearance and Shift Kit

Sorry for the extra topic, but this is a totally different question. We'll, more like verification for the rookie. Built me a 904 to go on the back of my basically stock rebuilt 360. I was told that this came out of a 70 E body. Anyways, I used Oregon Performance Transmissions "HP" rebuilt kit...

There was a Spacer in my 904...?

I disassembled the clutch and reinstalled the spring. The Belleville now had that spacer pushing up against it. It went Belleville, spacer, and wavy. I assembled the transmission and did an air check. The rear clutch thumps nicely. Thank you guys!

There was a Spacer in my 904...?

Well I decided to forgo it just to check clearance. I wet installed everything sans spacer and got right around 032", the minimum clearance for the rear clutch. Spacer ain't going back in.

There was a Spacer in my 904...?

Trying to get my V8 904 rebuilt here, first time. Thing have been going okay until I took apart the rear clutch. I have read everywhere that 904s don't have spacers.... But mine did! I can't remember if it came out before or after the Belleville spring. So from the Belleville spring to the...

[WANTED] Small Block Federal PS Pulley, Press On

Title says it all. It's from a 73 Duster, a press on pulley for a Federal power steering pump. Or , if you just have the pump with pulley (that isn't bent!!). I do not know the measurements just yet as I'm not home. I'll edit with specs when I get back home. Message me or post here, thanks!

Other Hobbies that Take Our Money

I said that mainly tongue in cheek. I'm all about enjoying the hobby and keeping one sane, especially during crazy times. That's why they're hobbies, yeah? It's about the personal enjoyment.

Other Hobbies that Take Our Money

Fantastic! A lot of railroad modelers here. If suspect at least one of you also like die-cast cars? I love me some antiques too. I'm trying to start my collection of various vintage advertisement, but it's expensive and rampant with fakes. Tricky hobby! I love my F2. One of the few cameras I...

Other Hobbies that Take Our Money

Hey all. As if the Mopar or classic car hobby wasn't expensive enough, some or even most enjoy another hobby that is either totally different or perhaps compliments or passion for cars. For me? It's both photography and vintage camera collecting. I buy and sell too, so it is slightly self...

    904 Disassembly Results and Questions

Hey all. I got that book plus the ATSG manual (plus the factory manual!). I have 4 clutch plates per drum in there. And yes, I'm just going to replace all steels and clutches in both drums; there was some worn in the front drum so there's no reason to throw them back in. Everything is from a V8...

    904 Disassembly Results and Questions

Indeed, I put all fresh fluid into it prior to taking it for my initial test drive in my car. I think I only drove it for one mile total before tearing it back out. Guess who learned to rebuild a transmission before throwing it into the car? This lady!

    904 Disassembly Results and Questions

The rear band looked okay, all uniform in color and texture. The washers for the planetaries looked to be worn to me : The output shaft bearing spun, and spin around too many times. I'll have to get that replaced. I didn't take apart the governer. Questions : -Is the wear on those washers...
