    A727 DipStick length?

I would measure from the top of the Boss (hole), where the tube seats, down to the fluid. I have a narrow ruler that will fit down the hole. I would compare this measurement to the outside measurement of the top of the hole to the top of the pan. All this would be done with the tube out.

    A727 DipStick length?

Well, I called Hughe's transmission tech., (which I should have done first) and the tech. guy said, "the fluid should be level with the top of the trans. pan, cold". He stated, " start the car in cold in natural" and check it. He also said that this level would put it between 1/2" and 1.000"...

    A727 DipStick length?

In the picture at the point of the pen, just above the "O" ring is where the tube seats in the transmission. From this point how far to the "Full mark"? In the attached picture the full mark is right even with the end of this tube or 1.125" from where it seats to the full mark. (end of the tube).

    A727 DipStick length?

SB... I believe the distance that the DS sticks out of the end of the tube, where it seats, will tell me what I need to know. (distance from the tube where it seats in the transmission to the ADD mark and FULL mark )

    A727 DipStick length?

Yes. I figured if I knew what the correct length was supposed to be I could figure out if the Lokar would work. I could take a reading on what I have now, replace it with the Lokar and see if I come up with the same reading. But then again I'm not positive that the one installed now is correct...

    A727 DipStick length?

I have a hughes 67-TF8 Street/Strip ( A727) trans. and want to install a Lokar SS flex dipstick so I can mount it on my firewall. The current locking dipstick is down by my headers and I burn myself when checking fluid level. (also the previous owner made the comment that he wasn't sure if the...

Idle... Based on the replies (thanks to all) I would like to try the 180' thermostat, but again, what kind/model etc. ?

    Thermostat recommendation.

The old rad. was also a BeCool. There is no shroud. The fans are the same, in back of the rad. and are governed by a controller. When I go looking for a thermostat they ask, what make, model and engine size? Doesn't matter, the engine didn't come in the car and the intake is not stock either...

    Thermostat recommendation.

The engine is a Magnum 360 (5.9L). I just installed a new aluminium BeCool radiator. Is it possible that there was an air pocket in the radiator when I filled it after installing new? Before the new radiator the notest it got was 190', now it climbs to 210-212'.... the problem i'm having...

Good article! But won't the higher heat cause dieseling?

    Thermostat recommendation.

Looking at changing my thermostat to a 160'. The one I took out looks to be made by Flowkooler Robertshaw? It is stamped 160' but the car runs way too hot at 200'. (i'm running twin electric fans). It has a 2.250' dia. flange. .035" thk. My intake is a Mopar M-1 single plane. Any ideas? Or...

    What is it?

It sounds like I cannot easily change the clips?

    What is it?

Why would a Dart WS fit a Duster? What is the difference in WS? Also. How are the WS clips held in place?
  15. Dan B.

    What is it?

Ok, got it..... The glass guy was here last night and installed the WS. I looked at the sticker on the glass and it said, "Dodge Dart" The number on the lower right hand corner is DW00759. So, evidently the Duster and Dart use the same WS.
  16. Dan B.

    What is it?

The glass guy took the WS with him and got the right match. I asked him what it was and he said "Duster"... Everyone was correct in saying the computer got it wrong.. Anyway, i'm now happy. Except I still don't know what the numbers 10511 mean?

    What is it?

So my windshield was broken and I needed a replacement. Called Ins. Co. filed claim. Glass guy called me and asked about car. I told him I had a 1972 Plymouth Duster. He said by the Vin number I had a Valiant. He stated that there was a difference between the Valiant and the Duster windshield...

    72 Duster's new Filter location

Just contacted a shirt tail relative. He runs a Turbo VW that runs in the high 7's. Also runs one at the salt flats. He told me that he runs a remote oil filter and an oil cooler on all his race cars with no problems. While he does not have a Mopar I would think an engine is an engine...

    72 Duster's new Filter location

Nm9, tnx again for your input. I lean in your direction. No he didn't offer me any numbers other than to say that if there wasn't enough oil reaching the oil filter I may not find out in time because the oil pressure would stay up because of where the pressure gauge picks up. (?). If I try out...

    72 Duster's new Filter location

Ok, I emailed WIX filter Tech. and to my surprise the tech. telephoned me back within ten min. (he said he called me because it would be hard to explain everything and he would not have been able to answer any of my questions as they arose) He suggested that I not move the filter any more than a...

    72 Duster's new Filter location

Thanks NM9's for the reply... Your comment about the hose has given me pause to do more research on the type of hose to use. I have heard pro and con on most of them. The route I plan on taking the oil lines is out of the way of most of the heat except when I near the headers, I was going to...

    72 Duster's new Filter location

There was absolutely no room anywhere under the pass. side. Believe me I looked. I took my filter set-up under the car and tried the rails and everywhere else and I didn't want to mount it in a wheel well. I read a lot about running hoses five feet and made several phone calls to a couple...

    72 Duster's new Filter location

I'm finally getting around to relocating my oil filter. Tired of the problems existing with the 90 degree location. Installing a Milodon 21566 oil adapter in the original filter location and a Canton DER-35729 Filter mount up front. I found an excellent place right next to my power steering...

    Oil Leak at Filter

Question... I'm installing a Canton oil filter adapter and Canton oil plate. From there I will run my lines to the new remote oil filter location. I need to know what and where I can get a "connector" bolt to mount the plate and oil adapter to the block. I purchased one thinking it was the right...

Coolant comes out of right rear header bolt when removed.

Today I started removing the right header on my 360 ci Magnum engine so I can get at the oil filter. The filter comes straight out from the block and is nearly impossible to change because of header pipes and everything else being in the way and when you do get it out oil spills out on the...
