Call your local welding SUPPLY shop and find out who is the better tig welding shops in the area. Super clean the cracks and then the intake. Then take the part to be welded. If you do the dirty work (aluminum must be super clean) the cost of welding shouldn't cost that much. This is a easy...

I just bought a Lakewood small block 4.8 bell housing for $60.00 off Atlanta's Craigslist. It did NOT have a block protection plate. You just have to look and be lucky.

The black Lincoln was on E-Bay a couple of years ago. I do not remember what it sold for but I do remember the price was not much more than a standard Lincoln at the time.

If possible use a COPPER backing plate to the back of the weld. This will make the welding a lot easier. The copper will not stick to the weld bead.
