    Timing - Ignition

Yeah, I'm using electronic, but I think I got a hold of a lean-burn distributor. I just ordered a new one from Mancini that's been recurved and has the adjustable vacuum pot. I had this one set at 5 deg. btdc, but when I nailed it,the car would stumble until the centrifugal advance could catch...

    Timing - Ignition

Can anyone tell me what the initial advance should be on a '71 360. All my manuals say look at the sticker on radiator, but since this engine is not native to my '76 Scamp, the "sticker" obviously is not there. Thanx in advance, Red Beard

    360 balancing

I've got a '71 360. My machine shop that balanced the rotating assembly did so with my ATI Damper and B&M flexplate. I've just gotten a Coan 3000 stall convertor for the 727. I know the 360 is originally balanced by weights on the convertor. My question is, do I still need to put weights on the...

    Dipstick

I'm getting ready to put the 727 in and noticed I don't have a dipstick or tube yet (DOH!!). The 904 coming out is behind a slant 6. Can I use the tube and dipstick from the 904 on the 727 ? Thanx in advance, James

    brakes again

I have the uca's and spindles for my disk setup now, but all the rotors I can find are 5 x 4.5 bc and I want to keep the small bolt pattern. Anyone know anywhere to find them. All the parts houses have is LBP also. I thought all a-bodies had 5 x 4 thru '76. thanks in advance, James

    7 1/4 to 8 3/4 swap in A-body

Yes, it does change , but only a small amount. If it concerns you, check the pinion angle, and apply shims between the front of the perch and the springs. this will raise the front of the pinion to compensate for the shorter driveshaft

    73 Dart 3rd member swap

It depends on what engine it came out with. My Scamp /6 had a small tube 7 1/4 and 9" brakes, so I had to get new shock plates and since the 8 3/4 uses 10" brakes I had to change those. Parts were readily available for brakes at the local Advanced Auto Parts. Everything in stock except SBP...

Shes alive an shes stayin alive!!

Just noticed later in the thread that the dots on top or bottom doesn't matter as long as the crank dot is on top and the cam dot is aligned on top or bottom and this only affects distributor placement. Whew, this really makes me realize that I've been away from engine basics WAY to long. Last...

Shes alive an shes stayin alive!!

Somewhere in this thread I noticed someone said the timing marks should be cam sprocket on top and crank sprocket should both be on top. Both of my manuals ( Haynes 71-89 Repair manual and How to Hot Rod SB Mopar's ) say that the marks should align cam on bottom and crank on top. Are these...

Actually, I do!! I have 2 Harley's also. The first 1 is a wide glide and I had it painted purple. People started calling it the Barnie (the dinosaur) bike. So when I got my dresser the girlfriend started calling it Fred. I'm sure you see the connection. Besides, I couldn't figure out how to get...

    FelPro head gaskets

I myself lube almost any fastener that has to be at a specific torque. I usually use assembly or moly lube, but motor oil works also. I always have been taught that the dryness creates a friction torque all unto itself and will not read true torque. A little lube dissipates this. But when it...
