    NOW what???????

I was watching one of the Car Warriors episodes a while back and they were showing the final thrash during the last 10 minutes or so of the 72 hour build. Quick shots of people rushing around doing things trying to finish up the cars before time ran out. One shot was of a person pouring ATF...

    Penzoil

Back in the 70's it was the only oil I used in my Mopar. Good or bad? Never had a problem. Used Castrol in my air cooled motorcycles back then.

    my new 360...

You need a 360 pan, the 318 pan is different. The mount needs to be shimmed because the spacing between the lugs on the block is different. If you are switching the 273 parts onto a Magnum engine and plan to use your mechanical fuel pump you'll need a fuel pump extension for the camshaft in...

    Timing

The book I was looking at is my old text book from when I was in tech school in the mid 1970's. It didn't give any more info, other than things like point gap, what plug to use, firing order, & some other VERY general info. Unless you have to pass some type of emissions test I'd use what made...

Book I have says TDC. I'd go for a bit more than that for better performance.

360 truck swap in 65 dart?

Was your 360 in an early A body like the OP is planning? Just wondering because a lot of times the earlier cars have clearance problems due to the shape of the K frame.

Delays when first hitting the throttle

Check your point gap, condenser & timing. Typical tune up items. A switch to an electronic ignition would probably be a good step. I would normally think the hesitation would be related to the carb, but with the hard starting issues I would give the ignition system a good going over first...

360 truck swap in 65 dart?

If you try one of these pans I'm interested to see how well it fits. I have one I plan to use in my '64 but I'm quite a ways from the mock-up stage.

    New damper/balancer?

Not trying to hijack but this is sorta' along the same line. I'm building a 408 & using the early timing marks, cast iron water pump, & matching pulleys, etc. Does anybody make a good SFI balancer that works with this setup? Or am I just stuck using this one...

    RHS head to Magnum crate.

I was going by the water pump. It didn't look right for an LA engine but I've looked at some other pics on line & I guess it looks more like an LA pump than a Magnum pump so I was wrong. Still looks kinda' weird to me though...

    RHS head to Magnum crate.

The one pictured in the ad is a Magnum, but the description says LA. Just be sure what you're buying is an LA based engine. I THINK I read that the Magnum block can be drilled to oil through the deck, but if it can be done I'm sure a complete tear down & trip to a machine shop would be necessary.

help visous fan worth it or not???

Electric fans do use some horsepower. They are powered by electricity provided by the alternator. The alternator is driven with horsepower provided by the engine. Nothing is free. :?

help visous fan worth it or not???

The place where I've seen the clearance issue is when using the aluminum water pump on an A body that originally came with a cast iron water pump and then adding the viscous fan. The MP clucth fan setup is too long to fit between the radiator & pump because the snout of the aluminum pump is...

    What size would these be?

1.88 Intake valves. 1.60 Exhaust valves. I cross referenced the numbers with Summit & Rock Auto.

Why is my intake killing my vac hose?

Somebody must have installed your distributor/oil pump drive shaft off by a few teeth. Either that or you might need to move each of the wires over one position on your distributor cap.

help visous fan worth it or not???

As I recall, most of your posts have lead me to believe you're doing a stock type restoration on your car. If you have the stock type early cast iron water pump the Mopar viscous fan setup should fit with no problems. If you've switched to the later aluminum water pump with the inlet on the...

Does anyone make a small block engine cradle that's worth a @#!!

It seems ridiculous that you can buy an engine stand for less than it costs to get an engine cradle. Crackedback, maybe you could charge less if you didn't have to pay that dancer. But the world's a better place with her where she is... :love4:

    Does this sound normal?

The passenger side manifold is not an early hipo manifold. Don't know about the driver's side. Didn't see a flapper on manifold but there might be one there, don't know. I've had some carbs make a loud sucking sound when they had an internal problem that was causing them to pull fuel...

    273 Commando intake question

I'm not sure there's enough "meat" on the original 273 manifold to port it that far, but maybe. If you buy one be sure it's from '66 or later so that it will bolt up to the 360. '65 & earlier manifolds used smaller bolts at a different angle. I know what the original manifolds looked like &...

    my 408 build

Use the search function here to research the Blueprint engines. I think at least one member had a bad experience with one, maybe more. As far as building your own engine, you know what you are capable of better than anybody else here. I prefer to build my own engine, even if it costs me more...

    Poly 318 rocker shaft

I haven't been into a poly engine since 1975 so I really don't remember very well what it was like. If it's like the A engines there should be a soft plug on each end of the shaft. From your description I suspect one has come out & is laying on the top of the head back there somewhere or has...

Let's see..........The question was asked at noon. At 7:00 he was still looking for somebody to answer the question to save him valuable time? I would've done like abodyjoe said & by 12:30 I would've been back from the farm supply store with 10 bolts & washers.

OEM Hydraulic Roller lifters / LA Engine

Just checked my book. This is straight from Ma Mopar. "Ensure that the oil feed hole in the side of the tappet body faces up (away from the crankshaft)." FYI, they also say to coat each tappet in Mopar Super Oil Conditioner or equivalent. This is in a section where they are putting...

When you let off the gas air can get into the system at the header leak & cause the unburned rich mixture in the exhaust to ignite. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

hey buying a 273 2 bbl 66 valiant soon what can i buy to improve my performance

Headers would really help this engine too. Unfortunately, to get a decent set for this body style you'll spend well over $800 by the time you get them in there & then you still need to figure out an exhaust system.
