Anyone had these symptoms with a 904?

On the one that I had with a plugged transfilter, it wasn’t clutch material. It almost looked liked old leaves and trash in the pan. Reverse does operate at a higher pressure. I am not sure why I lost all forward gears and not reverse. Funny story relating to that. On the Demon that I...

Anyone had these symptoms with a 904?

Drop the pan and check the filter. Whining sounds like pump cavitation. Restricted filter will do that. I had 71 Demon slant 6 years ago that was given to me with a bad transmission. It would shift through all gears for about 1/8th mile then loose all forward gears. Reverse still worked...

Driveline vibration out of now where! Help!

Is it possible that something may have moved and maybe you just have an exhaust pipe or something hitting the body transmitting engine vibration into the vehicle?

Driveline vibration out of now where! Help!

Just thinking about your issue a little bit If it is a problem in 3rd gear, I would not think it is planetary related. Both front and rear clutch packs are engaged in 3rd and there is no gear reduction or internal movement in the planetary gear sets. I would verify the tail shaft bearing...

    904 727 interchange

Everything should swap over fine except the driveshaft length and slip yoke. You will need the correct slip yoke for your 727 and shorten the driveshaft.

    727 issues

I actually had a trans filter plug up with debris on a Dodge demon I used to own. The symptoms were start up cold and vehicle drives normal for about 300 feet the goes to neutral. Still had reverse and made many runs to the beer store in reverse lol. It was actually a friend of mines car...

    727-904

I believe 71 and up gives the transmission part throttle kick down. Prior to that you had to go WFO to get kick down.

    904 valve body

If that is the case then you definitely need a valve body. I have an extra one sitting here if you were close you could have it.

    904 valve body

What was your complaint with the transmission that led you to take it to a transmission shop?

Anyone ever tried a Lock Right diff in a D 60?

I do not recommend any automatic Locker for ice. It becomes an instant crash machine. Deep snow is fine If you think there is ice on the road do not drive a vehicle withat automatic lockers. Just my opinion.

Anyone ever tried a Lock Right diff in a D 60?

I have used one in my old wrangler. Not a Dana60 but it worked well. I got used to it . There was a ratcheting sound around turns and at times was twitchy but I was in a short wheel base Jeep. They are a little twitchy anyway. I would run one again.

    Air checking 904

one thing that helps sometimes is air checking it out of the case. You can place the front and rear clutch packs in the front pump on the bench and air check through the pump. Sometimes easier to find problems that way.

Short shaft small block 727 questions.

They are very easy transmissions to rebuild. Any problem with running it the way it is? Other than needing a custom slip yoke driveshaft?

Short shaft small block 727 questions.

I searched and didn't find the answers. If I missed it and I am repeating then I apologize. Anyway. I was given a good working small block 727 out of a truck that is of the short shaft bolt on yoke variety. Can this be converted to a standard output shaft easily? Does it have a any good...

    LOCK RIGHT

Not really giving it away . You still have to have the experience to know what feels good and what doesnt.

    LOCK RIGHT

Also to be honest I really only bust out the dial indicator if I am worried. Most of the time I do it by feel anyway.

    LOCK RIGHT

Nothing wrong with that if it works for you. I have been a profession mechanic for 25 or so years. I have learned that if you talk to 5 different mechanics you will get 5 different opinions on how to do different things. I have always used factory specs when setting them up. Old gears ...

    LOCK RIGHT

Measure when you take it apart to see where you are but you just reset it to spec. .008 to .010. On an 8.75 there are no shims just adjustment nuts you use a spanner wrench on. It is all done on a bench. Doesn't get much easier. Hardest part is removing the center section.

    LOCK RIGHT

I have never ran one in my Race car but I have used one in my Jeep. Clicks around corners but doesn't bother me.

    vibration at 25-40 mph

You changed your axle and leaf spring. Check your drive shafts angle at your Trans and your rear axle pinion. The angles should be the same cancelling each other out. Pinion should be slightly down as it will lift under acceleration.

How To Recondition a Sure Grip Cone

I have done this exact repair about 20 years ago. I was able to chuck the cones up in my break lathe and shave about. 060 off of them. I reinstalled them and they worked great. I was told this trick by my friends dad who was an old Chrysler line mechanic from the 70s and who also campaigned...

    727 B&M shift kit problem

Did this problem ever get resolved? I have a 1968 plymouth satellite 383 727 combo that does exactly the same thing. When manually shifting the transmissin the trans feels like it flairs or maybe gets stuck between 1 and 2nd . If you lift out of the the throttle it shift into 2nd and you are...
