I would guess that all plain steel wheels were black - not body color. Someone else might correct me, but IIRC, this is the case so you'll have to paint a set on your own.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will be driving to all my local mom and pop parts shops to see if they have any old stock. I'd hate to have to use the K&N - but only because it isn't the same appearance as the originals. I might try cutting down the longer one as a last resort.

There are radiator shops all over the place that can slap in a new core. These are standard pieces, so you should be ale to get it done at every shop you choose to visit. Google it. Good luck! Bryan
