I'm planning on building a 340 but nothing really crazy and was wondering want you guys thought would be a good choice for a connecting rod. Looking at around the 400 hp range. The choices I was looking at were the Scat 26123, Eagle 6123CB, or just getting one of the sets of stock 340 rods...

I believe the coil you were given is supposed to run with a full 12v. I've always just by passed the resistor when using those coils.

On the ebay ad it says that it can't be used on x and j heads "without extra clearancing". I'm guessing because of larger diameter springs? But they list these for the 318/340/360 with extra clearancing for larger springs...

Thats cool, I've never seen the HEI control module used like that. You got a part # or application for that module? I wanna make me a set up like that!

Just measured the ports on mine and they averaged 1.95" x 1.05". It must be a later casting since it has the Mopar part number cast in it.

It's unfortunate, that like with most project/parts cars, it is worth more if sold in pieces.

It would be worth more to someone trying to do a restoration on a 68 340 a-body than to someone just looking for a 340 to put in a car. Being that the actual condition of it (internally) isn't known, most people would look at it as a core that needs a complete overhaul. I'd say around $500 if...

Here's a NOS dipstick tube. The overall length is 9 1/16" and from the bottom of the flair to the top of the tube is 8 1/16"

Do a search on the trw L2316 piston. I think they are still made under the speedpro name with the same number.

Okay, its going to be a kit from BPE. After seeing DVJCuda's kit, decided that's who I'm going with. Not the cheapest, but definately some quality stuff and Rods seems to be a good guy.

I don't think manifold change will give any noticeable hp gain in your situation. But like 340sFastback said I would just change it to get rid of some weight, and it would look cooler too. I would look for an LD340 cause I like the looks of those on a street car. Or an Edelbrock Performer RPM...

Intakes are designed for different purposes, so first you need to figure out what your main use is. Just an extreme comparison, a tunnel ram would work great on a race only car but would suck on the street. Unless you're running FI on it like DVJCuda.
