There plenty of correct adapters out there so you don't have to modify your Air Gap.

Ok so we have tested the inlet change and the results were interesting. We did 30 runs changing air bleeds, timing, lash and a cool can. The Air Gap performed well and the 830HP carb was right on target, we ended up with a 20rwhp increase and 41rwfp of torque. Here's what happened...

Anthony, just rebuilt my Aussie teen form a 78, it had never been touched. When I pulled it apart it had no slinger so I put it back together that way using a Rollermaster chain. I've knocked up 5000kms with out a leak or issue, so I would ditch the slinger.
