Selecting the most accurately dated AVS carb casting

I am in the process of restoring my 69 Barracuda. I am looking for a carb core to rebuild. How far in advance of a mid March 1969 vehicle production date should I look for in the month cast into carb? What would be a reasonable number of months in advance if I want to be fairly accurate?

Anyone know what these fittings are called and where to buy them?

i am in need of two of these slide on fittings to finish up a carb linkage set up. These slide on a 1/4” diameter rod and attach to the carb at one end and the throttle lever at the other end. A set screw holds it in place along the rod and a wire clip holds it in on the other side. I prefer...

    3/8 fuel line routing?

For the section near the muffler just slide on or splice opens and tie wrap on some reflective insulating wrap like that used on fuel lines under the hood or for refrigeration tubing. This way you will have some additional protection. I would also put some rubber hose on the line where it...

    FiTech EFI system

Thanks for that clarification. I was hoping to run the 5/16 back but figure 5/16 to the throttle body is too small. What size are you all running from the tank and returning to the tank when you have the high pressure pump in or near the tank?

    FiTech EFI system

Looking for input on the fuel line sizes people are running. I am running an in tank Walbro pump and have 550 HP and torque. I was considering using the stock 5/16 fuel line as the return with AN 6 from the throttle body. Is this sufficient for the return? What are people using for size...

How to keep fuel up to the curb after shut off.

Some carbs you can pour a little gas down the vent tubes to fill the bowls. If it has sat for a few days fill it up and then start the car.

Same here. I put the filter before the pump.

    LD340 intake

I have used this combination before and it worked fine on a mild engine. The manifold is a good upgrade to the stock intake. If you have the hood clearance I would use a 3/8" to 1/2 plastic spacer to insulate the carb from the manifold. I would also block the heat crossover if you drive in...

Yes I was referring to the Eddy Thunder AVS.

Why is the manual choke AVS better than an electric choke model?

I have read on a few threads that the manual choke AVS is better than the electric choke version of the same Carter carb. I would have thought both would offer equal performance and tuning ability. Anyone know why this is the case or is it simply a myth?

    Rough idle Carter AVS

Did you check for a vacuum leak at the throttle shafts? Older carbs sometimes have worn shafts/main body housing where the shafts meet the main body and need to be repaired to get a good seal.

    Gas Tank Reconditioning

Does anyone know if a gas tank can be reconditioned to look new? If it is possible how is it done? My tank is in good shape with some minor surface rust and undercoating. I was hoping to remove the undercoating, sand off the rust, boil out the tank and re-plate or paint the tank to look new...

Rebuilt Carter AVS or new Edelbrock Thunder AVS

I need a carb for my 69 Barracuda 340. I am trying to decide whether to pick up a rebuilt stock AVS (625 cfm) or whether to go for the new Edelbrock Thunder AVS (650 cfm). Both seem to be priced about the same from what I have seen advertised. Engine is mostly stock (stock intake and exhaust...
