Looking over the block (77 360) I noticed something a bit odd, see picture #1. It became more prominent after I hot tanked it, see picture #2. My best guess is a weld repair before it was machined .030 over.

My 2 cents: The last few years of the LA were roller cam and all Magnums are rollers.

If it were me, I'd find a early 90's 360 (pre Magnum) comes stock roller with cam.

Nope, just wondering if I would gain anything by changing them, or just sell my Scat H beam rods.....

Roller Cam: 243 int. 257 exhaust Lift: 533 int. 519 exhaust Separation: 107 Compression: 10.5 : 1 Heads: Indy X, ported w/ 2.05 intake valves. Dyn: 476hp @ 5300 RPM. 513 torque @ 4500 RPM.

As I stated, I am not sure of the brand of the I beam rods, and aware of the rebalancing, the Scat H beams are 4340.

I bought a 1991 roller 408 stroker a while back ( still on my engine stand, only dyno time on it ). It has "I" beam rods in it now ( can't remember the brand off hand ). I have new Scat "H" beam stroker rods sitting in the garage. I've been going back and forth on weather or not to take it...

If it were me, I would start by looking at the carb and fuel pump.Have they been sitting five years also?

Did changing the pump get fuel to the engine? If not, I would still work on that problem.

I've always taken off the hood, and I prefer to pull both motor and trans out together.

I would say 360. If in a few years you have the time and money for a rebuild, you'll be wishing you picked up the 360.

Exhaust crossover ports.. don't worry about it, that's the way it's supposed to be.!!

This is something to remember for future hunts for 318's. Did they do the same for RV 360's???

Maybe slop in the timing chain/ worn gears??

I was going to use one, but a lot of people say they have problems with them leaking. I am still undecided on using the one I've got??? :violent1:

On my 69 A body, what side does the tall and short brkt go on with a 360(drivers/pass) and do the brkts go in front or behind the "ears" on the block? Thanks..

That happened to me about 15 years ago. I walked into the auto parts store holding the push rod with the rocker on it and told them "I need one of these"

Maybe just an exhaust tick...??
