my alternator in my 73 valiant is toast and the local pull a part has a lot of older mopar vehicles. does anyone know if and what other makes and models may be a direct swap. going in that direction this weekend thought for 13 bucks i would see what i can get. thanks

it was a bad bulb. both filiments were out but working earlier. def would like to switch out the flashers for some that will still blink even with a bulb out. thanks for all the help.

My left turn signal comes on but it won't blink. The right turn signal works fine and so do the hazard lights. I don't understand what would cause this. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

put a new rebuilt distributor in my 318 a while back and have not been able to run the advance because it caused a bad hesitation. finally got around to working on it and found the advance screw in the canister was screwed all the way in so i backed it out a half a turn and it runs alot better...

checked the wiring and found the nut for the main feed wire has come off and the wire was just sitting on the stud. put a nut on it and fixed. must of been that way a while the wire end had cut the stud almost in 2.

i do have an am radio. it sounds great when the car is off but when its running it sounds terrible and wont keep a signal. tommorow im gonna check all connections and then take it and get the alternator tested. just figured alternator cause it all works fine if the access are off. thanks

looks like its the ts switch. anyone know where to get one. the parts house list one for 21.99 but dont i need the part with all the wires? this is just a plastic block with a couple contacts.

bought a 70 d100 stepside this week and all the lights work but the pass brake light. cant find where it feeds to the wiring harness. tried wiring from the driver side to the pass side but if i try to use the pass signal with the brake light on the blinker quits. any help greatly appreciated...

replaced the distributor and it fired right up. a huge thank you to all who helped atleast i know the rest of the system is in great shape. this is a great site with great people and i hope i can return the favor some day.

it was doing this before i replaced the coil in the distributor. i replaced the distributor that morning. the old one would idle down really slow due to sticking weights. put this one in it ran great then hard to start then no start. good thing i dont have alot of hair or i would have pulled it...

gonna try a dizzy in the am will let yall know what happens. strangest thing ive ever seen. if nothing else would trying a different ignition like msd work by just not using the original stuff? thanks to all for the help

unhooked the alternator and still no fire. i can pull the dizzy and turn by hand it fires great and put the dizzy back in and turn the body no fire. crank it over no fire pull it out spin it i have fire. could it be the dizzy itself is bad. i replaced the pick up in it and it didnt change...

be home in a little bit, gonna pull the alternator wires off to see if it cranks, if that dont work is there something else i should look for? will post my findings afterwhile. thanks for all the input!

just wondering how does the alternator having a short effect the ignition system. seems like ive heard this somewhere before thanks.

i also put in a spare ballast resister and when that didnt work i ran a hot wire to the pos side of the coil from the battery and no change. my starter is a little weak but has always started could it be pulling juice away from the ecu when trying to crank it?

yes the switch was being held in the start position when i turned the distributor and got great fire. put the dizzy back in and tried it with the starter and got no spark. first thing i replaced the ecu and then tried a new coil. when that didnt work i put a new pick up in the new distributor...
