ok so i'm switching my /6 and 904 over to a 360/727. will my stock column shifter linkage work on the 727? trying to go budget to get it all running then upgrade later to a floor shifter??
thanks
adam
ok cool...
so oldkimmer this should act like any ordinary sure grip is what your saying just when both wheels are under a load correct? and when not it acts as a sure grip unit?
and the 1957-1964 and 1965-1969 clutch stye sure grips are all rebuildable correct?
so he just sent me these pics....
he says after he reassembled it i guess it's working more properly now theres not as much fluid in it, i guess when he opened it fluid was just gushing out...
well let me ask this guys, is a 8 3/4 with 4.10's complete from drum to drum, no shock plates and no hard line brake line. is this worth $500 if it's not a sure-grip unit?
yup it's the same guy, he doesn't want "strangers" meeting at his house. i called him back asking for pics and he did get defensive. just don't make sense to me
well i just called him, and he said he would shoot me a few pics of it tomorrow, he said it was a clutch style, and that the 4.10's look fairly new since they still had majority of the paint on them and looked to be wearing evenly
ok so i'm looking into a 8 3/4 rear end to buy. it's suppose to have a sure-grip unit with 4.10's. when he was loading it up to meet up with me he rotated the drums....they spin opposite. so he says he was gonna pull the center section to check it all out since he bought it like this and don't...
ok so i'm going by to possibly buy a 8 3/4 tonight. it's complete drum to drum with 4.10's and sure grip...
so i can tell if it's got sure grip if i turn the drums and both spin the same way. correct?
and for the gears i turn the drums once all the way around and the diff yoke should spin...
so this has gotta be a A body rear end since seeing any of the other measurements don't come close. just throws me off cuz he says it's a 5x4.5 bolt pattern, i'll have to go check it out
ok so i found a guy on craigslist thats got a complete 8 3/4 for sale. he says it's 52" from backing plate to backing plate which i've read some were some where in the past a body was 52 5/8 flange to flange???? is this what i want? i hope so cuz it's a good buy.
now my other question is that my 8 3/4 didn't come with drums or wheel cylinders. but now if my 7 1/4 has the same size drums as what the 8 3/4 has would the parts be transferable from back plating to back plating?
