Getting eng bay ready for eng !

looks good, i redid mine too when the car was apart, i just did it black, because it was easy, but i have no fender wells either. whats the plan with the 63? you want it to look stock and run like hell? --chad

    Ride height..

the way its measured is a big PITA, i say set where you like it (or to clear speed bumps and what not), then get it realigned. anytime you change ride hight, the alignment is going to get a bit off. i personally like the front low (well, the whole car low), but with stock control arms...

    Scoop Plugs

the foam i used was very soft and "squishable". i dont know what it came from because i just had it around at the time, but it is similar to the foam you can buy at the hardware store in strips to seal windows for air conditioners. als, they make those plastic carb hats that are cheap too. mr...

    Scoop Plugs

yop will prob have to make them. i made a set for my dartsport years ago, by cutting out the main shape in thin sheetmetal (one for each opening) and glueing foam (something that can be easily compressed and thenexpands back to shape) to the back side of the sheetmetal with regular 3M general...

    Shake, rattle, and roll!

oh, so the rockers were on wrong. thats an easy mistake. heck yea, way advanced timming will rattle a motor big time. i once had a similar situation and had almost 50 degress of timing in the motor--not including vacum advance. turned it back a bit and all was well. --chad

    Buyer beware...

for a used motor, its not exactly horrible. its more than a 10% difference, but still not bad. but what i have a question about is, is this a bone stock motor? if not, id have to say the cam is way to big and bleeding off cylinder pressure. you really want to be in that 140-160 range if all is...

    Odd Balls

WOW!!! that looks alot better----maybe down the road i will look for a 69 nose, but that 73/4 front end has grown on my so much over the years and now i own 2----decisions, decisions --chad

looks good. huh, the taillight panel on my wifes duster looks like that too---i wonder why that happens to them, seems like a weird spot for rust to form. --chad

    Odd Balls

yep, a guy at junkyard years ago told me the hoods were the same. i just said ok to him to apease him, then when i got to work that monday, i looked up the part number for a 69 hood, and wouldnt you know it supersedes to the same part number as the 73-6 hood. i dont know how the designers...

    Odd Balls

i like the 68 valiant nose on the duster alot. id try a 67 dart nose on my 73 dartsport, but then id lose the space where my intercooler is mounted because the 73 nose sticks out farther. hmmm, just thinking here, a 73-6 dart hood is the same as a 69 cuda, what if that front was on a...

the weather isnt what i meant, you cant control that, but it will control a show. the show itself has just been going downhill---for what reasons i dont know. its alot of work to put shows on, our club does 2 of them. its hard to get new people interested in participating there own time for the...

motor is in the car---finally!! pics!!

i finally had a productive weekend and got this lump of iron in the car. now, the real work can begin!!! car assembly. i hope to have it running in the next few months. since this is such a big undertaking, everything needs to be done---wiring, plumbing, etc. i took it all out of the car to...

    Whats everone working on?

nightmare from hell----all i wanted was power brakes in the slant six car. so far, i have replaced the power booster (faulty unit), master cylinder(new aluminum style), left front caliper (broken bleeder screw), left rear wheel cylinder (broken bleeder screw), and both brake lines off the master...

tore down the top end....here's what i found

yes, definetaly cc the heads first. that is an important part of the equation. like you said, you probably have 8 to 1 at best. the best i ever found on a bone stock 400 was 7.9 to 1. the only choice here is a piston swap, milling the heads more could induce a number of other problems (intake...

    Whats everone working on?

put clutch pedal setup in my slant six car and now car wont start  must have moved something just right i guess  got heads and oil pan on the big block for the turbo car, finishing, carb and intake too. should be ready to drop in real soon i hope. --chad

I'm going in - wish me luck!

i wish i saw this post sooner, i wish you had gotten the mopar parts instead of fel-pro. a little more but alot better. yes, the new gasket is steel embossed. they also recommend new lower pan bolts. i recommend new intake bolts too asthe become brittle and are prone to break. also, as said too...

    Cost to prostreet....approx?

i 100% agree on using aftermarket tubs. unless you want that real sleeper look of widened tubs, i think the sheetmetal tubs would be a better choice IMO. i wish i did that when i mini-tubed mine. i have had no issues however with the stock modified tubs and 30" wheels though, its just a personal...

    Cost to prostreet....approx?

to do it yourself? prob looking at 2000-2500 in parts. i think thats what i came up with for mine with "nice" parts. you can go all out and spend more, or you could cheap out and spend less. it depends on what your after. they used to charge about 5k to do a whole job, but i think that has risen...

    Whats everone working on?

s-l-o-w-l-y making progress on all the tubing for my turbo setup. finally got all the header tubes tacked together. trying to hold off a bit on them as i recently picked up a tig welder and want to get some practice in on that so i can finish the plumbing and headers --chad
