I started with the 188 valves and the 273 rockers and the second year I did more Port work myself and a couple hours by the machine shop and put 202's and the 1. 6 Hughes rockers the second year... Didn't see much bang for the buck with that..

So how much of a bang was it?
Tenth? 2 tenths?
 
Exactly why I posted it. Say it only goes 12.6's. Then we'll ALL know.... on my nickel :)
I have absolutely no issue with not spending money!
But I don't like to set myself up for disappointment either..
And not to say you'll be disappointed...
But if we were to follow along with the title...11.8....
13-3 is a world away from 12.6, but 11.8 is two more worlds away from 12.6...
And might I point out just like you pointed to me the $1, 400 on the pro Max heads is still going to take you down the same kind of rabbit hole as the $1, 400 stroker kit. Not the same rabbit hole but a rabbit hole none the less... Even though my machinist acted dumb and still notched my block I didn't need it as I I'm running I beam scat rodse which clearly stay in their instructions the bottom Notch is not needed... in the end he talked me into splitting the $90 difference... Okay so if I go forged with H beams I'm prepared..

I've met Warren Johnson. Several times. I met him through my customer, who is still friends with WJ. His mouth was moving, my mouth was locked shut and my ears on full listen. And he said things worth remembering. Every time.

What a shame for you and your family. It's people like you who have made me the prick I am today. If YOU weren't so hard to deal with, I'd help you. For FREE. I'd come to the track, help you tune and even teach as much as you'd be willing to learn. Then I'd jump in your car and out drive you, just for fun. That would give you something to shoot for. (And if you don't think that is probable, ask lead69...he may not agree with me, but he might...just ask him).

Sometimes you need to read what you post and ask yourself why stepping on your own dick feels so good.

Make sure you demand PRH post ALL his time slips, and ALL the time slips for All the cars he's tuned and ALL the dyno sheets for ALL his customers that he has run across a dyno.

Start with that. Then we'll see how it goes.
It's crazy that Uncle Craig's father my grandfather is actually in the book of Who's Who... he was a wizard electrical engineer who actually has his name on a plaque at the Hoover Dam.. I remember him telling me the story of when he went to see Einstein talk at a university in Washington and telling me it was so far above has had it seems like gibberish but it was still cool seeing the mana...and my uncle Craig's Sons how they made it through their childhood I'll never know are computer whizzes and Engineers themselves.. Uncle Craig has always been one of those people who trashes everything and himself to death and never has anything and never will. Someone you can't stand listening to for more than 5 minutes.... But that was an example it can be done...
My grandfather on my dad's side was also a brain as well very smart man and did very well in the stock market. Was always the head of one of those stock market groups and things like that...

I haven't asked for one thing from PRH as far as qualifiers... First off he is straight pertinent questions and give straightforward answers. he doesn't talk about picking up poop and donut and pepper and poop and he doesn't talk about stepping on his dick and all kinds of crazy stuff like that... and it's definitely not got thrown off the forum under a different name for being a raving lunatic...
 
I had a 340 in my car for a couple seasons.
About 3500lbs race weight...... lots of gear, not enough stall(they missed on the set up), similar sized cam as what you had.
Went a best of 11.66@117.
Mid-1.60 60’ time.

5.13’s, 30” tires, 4800 stall.
Shift at 7500, through the lights at 6900.
It really needed 5.38’s and another 700 stall....... but that probably wouldn’t have changed the ET more than a tenth.

If you shifted lower, it slowed right down.
The converter was locked up too tight at 7500, so the fall back after the shift was too much.
(That converter worked a lot better behind the 383 I ran years later)

It just didn’t “feel” very fast, so I got bored with it....... and put the 448 back in.
It was fun when people would come look under the hood and seeing their reaction when they saw the small block in the 68 B Body running 11’s.
That wasn’t too common 25 years ago.

Good Golly Miss Molly LOL that's another one.. I must have changed four major things about the car after that first year with the Stroker motor.. I think I added the roll bar thinking that valve change was going to give me some kind of crazy power and shoot me under 11.5 for sure...

but keep in mind, I do approach things differently than you, and it's not about right or wrong. I always believe there is more in any given combo and if a person seeks it, they'll find it. Most won't. They'll say "that's about right for that car" and then add parts to go faster. Not me. Not until it's exhausted me LOL

the "racer forum" is full of ET slips being posted. Am I to chase Pittsburgracer's car also because he posts ET slips? Just because Jpeg tags along and tries to rub my face in the sand and we have a lot of jibber jabber doesn't make him my competitor. I want to run along side that 392, but not bad enough to spend 10k... LOL.

Why do I need to run a 11.8 to poke at you??? I poke at you now!! In fact, I made sure you were well aware that my stock 360/2.94's 60 ft better than your built 410 stroker/3.54's didn't I? And not just the 60 ft, I think I might have beat you to the 330 ft????? And you STILL believe I need a 11.8 to kick your sand castle??? And the fact that there isn't even a second between us is a reason for me to kick another sand castle of yours over.... LOL :D :D And still, you are not my target, your entertainment! LOL
 
OUCH!!! Not too personal please.... I think what I'm doing will be a great experiment for all to watch on my expense. Yet another fun project paid for by me :) And I'll post videos vs my son be it win, lose or draw! And if I start behind, what changes I made to catch up! Fun! Fun! It's all about Fun!
We will never make phrs prediction come true of 70% crapola if we don't keep up the bench racing...
 
My car is actually a 4 speed car, but has only had one in it under my ownership(since 1981) for a very brief time.
I never had “good” stuff with the 4 speed.
And the motor was very mild back then as well.

I had one outing at the track with the 4 speed........ probably like 1984-ish.
3.23’s, regular radial tires, slipping clutch....... no headers on the motor.

It was something like a 13.86@101 after figuring out how soft I had to leave to not fry the tires.

I’ve made some passes in other people’s cars with 4 speeds before....... nothing real fast though.

One of my friends has several F.A.S.T. cars with 4 speeds.
He let me run his 71 super bee with a 493 6bbl in it one weekend.
With the stock type bias tires you have to launch pretty soft....... 60’ times around 2.00.
I think I ran a few 12.0’s with that......at around 120mph.

LOL so agreed it's not easy... Especially as some people want to make it out to be.... And contrary to what 318hvtwf says I did start off with 355 in my 8 and 1/4 rear end but quickly got rid of it in favor of an eight and three-quarter before I blew it up and could not resell it LOL.. and then blew up the 8 3/4 20 passes later...lol..

I had the 383 in it for the 05-07 seasons.

Very basic “nothing special” motor combo.
I don’t even remember when I had the machine work done on the bottom end, but it was years before I actually ran the motor.
Stock cast 400 crank(couldn’t find a steel crank....... pre-internet days).
Still externally balanced.
Stock rods with arp bolts, trw L2315’s that I put valve notches in myself.
Block decked so the Pistons stuck out .020”.
Balanced.
906’s with nice valve job(no porting), flowed low-230’s...... milled to 79cc.
Comp custom flat tappet cam(256/262-106), Isky iron rockers, rpm intake, annular 850DP Holley, 1-7/8” headers.

8” converter(5400 stall), 4.56’s, old SS springs, 29.5 x 10.5 bias slicks, flat hood, battery up front, factory 5/16” fuel line, mechanical pump, flat hood, crank driven water pump.
Looked like any other 12-13 second car under the hood.
3670lbs race weight....... 11.82 right off the trailer....... after the car had sat without a drivetrain for 6 years.
That’s using the 6 year old slicks too.

Next pass was 11.62.

Next time at the track it went 50’s....... time or two after that it went 40’s.
It went 11.40@ 3 different tracks like that.

I ended up putting cal-tracs on it with xhd springs, which went no quicker, but was much more consistent.
I also ended up putting an electric w/p drive on it to cool it off good between runs, and put some new radial slicks on it.
Went a best of 11.26 like that.

Then....... I removed the gas tank and put in a cell, added a real fuel system, took out the heater and wipers, removed the rear seat......and put on a fiberglass 6 pak hood.

I only ran it one day like that, which wasn’t a real good weather day(not as good as the day it had previously gone 11.26), and it went 11.18.
Picked up 4mph too........ the motor felt sooo much stronger in high gear with the fresh air and upgraded fuel system.
I discovered a few days later that the right front wheel cylinder was hanging up big time........ so I feel like there might have been an 11.0 in it had that issue not popped up.
