1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

Don't know why, but I cleaned and painted up a front crank pulley and bolted it on. It's black and helps break up some of the red. What is that, the P/S pulley? I don't even know. It's on there now. LOL

Got a little more done to the milled head motor today. Got the 2.5" outlet exhaust manifold Freddie fixed up for me and the 4 barrel intake and QFT carburetor on it. Next is bolting the transmission on it and doing the swap.

same carb I’ve got. How are you planning to hook up the throttle linkage?

Tried the air cleaner and it didn't look right aluminum color but it looks badass red.

Richie dropped my nice fresh turned flywheel by the house tonight and of course, I wasted no time. lol Gettin closer. We'll make the swap probably in the next week. Supposed to be nice weather for like 7-10 days.

Looking sharp RRR, look forward to a video you and kitty driving it.

There'll probably be one fer sho! I caint wait to hear this bad boy. It ain't the closed chamber head motor, but it's a true 10:1 with a 250@ .050 solid cam. It's gonna snort. lol

A month later: yes, the black thingy is a power steering pulley. I'm not sure what A/C cars used, or A/C cars with power steering. Would have to have been a multi-groove pulley.

Motor looks really good.

We found me some red astro turf to make a trunk mat out of. Once again, my beautiful wife Kitty came through with her crafts skills and cut it to fit just right. Came out real good. At least we think so.

Got everything disconnected on top tonight then got the car up in the air and decided I'd had enough for tonight. The new engine will at least get set in tomorrow.

So, Kitty and I found out tonight the early A body van and early A body car oil pans aren't the same. So I will be swappin on an early A body car pan tomorrow and we'll get on with this here. lol

Typical 1 step forward 2 steps back procedure. :)

Oh that ain't nuthin. Get this......I spent half the night cleanin the "right" oil pan. Got it all cleaned up and even managed to SAVE the oil pan gasket and slapped the pan on and got it all tightened up and proud of myself and got to lookin at it. I put ANOTHER wrong pan on it. LOL And what's worse, the right one was a FOOT away from where I was workin. Unfortunately, the pan gasket did not live a second time, so I'll have to wait on that till Saturday, cause that's one of the few things for a slant I do not have. Oh well. LOL

Like I said....2 steps back. Lol

I don't know how many times I've said, " Why the f**k do I do this again" ? :)

Got the correct oil pan on it and got the new motor in. The hood ain't gonna make it over that air cleaner, though. Dangit. It was super cool too. I'll find somethin.

Rusty I put a 10”*2” Holley round air cleaner on my 225 in a 64. Sits lower than my power brake booster so I expect the hood will clear it

Thanks, I'll look at that. I'm kinda tween a rock and a hard place on this.....the original thin Offenhauser carburetor adapters are no longer being made, and I had one that was a generic. It worked, but as soon as the carburetor nuts tightened down, they pulled the nuts underneath right through the adapter plate crackin it all to hell. So.....I got a much better and beefier Edelbrock adapter. Only thing is, it's 1" thick, which is about twice as thick as the Offy piece. So I have that extra height I cannot do anything about. I'll figure something out. Hell, I'm not opposed to puttin a hood scoop on it. I really didn't want to, but I will if I have to. lol
