1965 MMP's Barracuda Hemi swap! The Ever Changing Build

-
How are you getting the old gauges to work with the motor and trans?

Gauges will be simple. Oil pressure I'll run a T off the back of the block so I can run both the efi sensor and the stock (65) gauge pressure sensor.
Water temp is easy enough both the efi and the stock (65) is a one wire resistance ground style so I can just tap into the line. Fuel is easy the EFI kit I bought is built for the old style gauge, (Alt) I haven't looked into yet but I wouldn't think it would be that hard to figure out. Magum Mopar built my efi harness and it's pretty simple and straight forward so I'm not to worried. I think I can muddle through... hahaha
As for the speedo I got that handled. The later 46re is setup for an elc speedo sensor in the diff. But after some reading I figured out you can take the tail housing and shaft from an 46RH with the speedo provision (port hole / shaft drive gear) and mate that to the 46re. Only issue is I still have a plug 2wire on my harness that needs to feed the computer what the speedo drive see's so my plan is to run a hotrod style cruse control sensor 2 wire BAM I'm done

If you refer to page 4 of my build you will see what needs to be swapped and replaced for the transmission. Link below
1965 MMP Barracuda 5.9/46re IFS

This is a Hall effect speed sensor. It fits between the trans speedo drive and the cable.

Just found this thread and read through the entire thing! This is freaking sick! Teach me everything you know!!! I'm not too far away actually, just on the other side of the hill at the 10/57 interchange. Lol.

I learned everything I know in the Marines or from pornhub and Home & Garden Magazine

Nice! Thanks for the education. Wait, I only subscribe to pornhub, I don't know they joined with home and garden! Now the wife and I can share some quality time learning together!

Other then selling off the Drive shaft this weekend I was also able to get the brake calipers sand blasted and cleaned up, painted and now just waiting on rebuild part. should have it all this week. Also tossed in the mix was the blower front plate.
Looks like I'm going to have to cut down my lower control arms myself talked with my R&D manager at my shop and we came up with a pretty good plan for the modification. We'll see how well this works out.. lol

Been slow going lately. Went through 3 different caliper rebuild kits till I got the right ones, two different sets of pistons. ugh
But finally got what I needed to finish the calipers. I sand blasted the lower arms and bought the material needed to cut them down to size.
I was hoping to get to this but it's going to have to wait a few weeks. Other than that I haven't been able to get much finished. I was able to reassemble the Whipple supercharger yesterday. All cleaned and rebuilt, didn't take any pictures but will post some finished ones later. Still need to build a rear throttle plate manifold to accommodate the corvette throttle body. I also want to pull the motor and finish up the build, pulleys and water neck but with out a rear-end in the car moving it around is a bit tough. So I'm thinking about building bolt on frame dolly wheels so I can at least get it off the jacks and move it around.

Located a true v12 diff with 3:54 gear and power-loc rebuilt but used in Florida. For a super good price, much cheaper than it would be to rebuild and convert my current 3:07 open diff. I'm travailing around the US starting tomorrow for the next two weeks for work. So this beauty should be waiting for me when I get back. Fingers crossed...

Got back from my long Business trip and found this sweet little bundle of joy waiting for me
Take this home tonight clean it up and paint it. mount my brakes on it and install it. Now just awaiting my axles and time to cut down the lower arms.

Got the diff home, cleaned it up and took a look inside. Everything looks okay, found some scaring on the spider gears but the power-lok is tight. Everything else checked out. I did notice that the case cover was missing a gasket. The PO just use sealer :mob:, So I put the diff in my tank to cleaned it out. Just to make sure there wasn't anything floating around inside while in use.

So my 8yr old has started to take an interest in the build and has decided he has found the Livery and color for the car; I have to say I like it.
I never wanted to project this car as a Formula S "which it is not" so I think I'll play around with the stripe a bit but Other wise I like his idea and I love the color!

Sorry been globe trotting for the last few months...
No real updates other than boarding a plane for Cancun Thursday at 5am
Taking the family for a vacation. Thought I would repay them for all the time I've been gone in the last year...

OMG! Okay very little update, I have had a hell of an ordeal trying to find a specialty shop willing to cut down the solid axles from the Jaguar. Ever damn shop I call, the answer is "sure we can knock those out for you N.P." till I roll in with them and then every damn one starts back peddling. I'm to the point that i don't care how much they cost and just need to get over this project stalling hurtle.... So for the update part I found (My wife found ) a shop in Mission Vijo here in Socal who is going to build me corvette style axles in 2" O.D. that will take abuse for a pretty shinny penny. So tomorrow I will be finally dropping of the inner flanges, axles, and spindles for building. www.drivelinesinc.com
I also finally got the right material needed to cut down the lower arms. Once all this is finished I can put the suspension back together and finish the upper coil over style shock mounts finishing the rear-end. something I'm looking forward to... :poke:

-Oh side note I found a painter out of Huntington Beach, a Kid that used to work for me at over at Cobra USA. He's Painting my 78 XLCR body work next week. I'm going to talk with him about his crew maybe doing the paint and body work on the barracuda :) so wait for an update on that coming...

So Axles are out at custom shop and should have them back soon. Project is tad bit stalled awaiting them so I took on another project :BangHead:
This one I was able to finish in the weekend. I have always hated garage doors because you can never have good lighting in all areas with them up. It covers at least a 3rd of your ceiling and cast a shadow over the front 3rd of the garage. Which sucks because I enjoy working in the garage at night with the door open. So I did this...

The first 2 pictures are with all the light in the garage as well as the door on. The last picture is the garage door LED's on only.
I think it turned out awesome. Now I'm still in the testing phase. If you notice the lights are different colors. I plan on going with the Bright White which is the two lower line, they have a bit my blue in them.

I installed a contact switch which only allows the lights to be on while the door is up and I wired that into the ceiling light and is operated with the ceiling light switch. So everything is all together and work in unison. (except for in picture #3 -test run)

No more shadows!

That’s just absolutely genius!

So got a call yesterday about my axles. One was finished but the other will take some time. Turns out the conversion yoke I need ?? is on back order for a few weeks. Other wise it looks good. Now just need to put some pressure on getting the lower arms finished.

I'll try and mock it up this weekend without the lower arm to make sure my measurements are good and my wheels fit.

I've used Wade for every shaft I've needed for more years than I care to admit. He will do right by you and stand behind his work. He is seriously good people and the work is top notch.
I've fallen behind on your project and glad to have caught up. You're skills are impressive.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
