1969 Barracuda 340 Formula S Restoration

-
Back in the car, but would not run!! Looks like the bimetallic overload in the switch got fried due to high current when it was squealing. Fortunately I had another restored spare. Runs great. Dash all back in place and everything works ok including all the vacuum operated AC dampers.

Windows installed today.
Took all afternoon! Finally found a guy who knows how to install and seal windows on these older cars. The big rear window was a real struggle to get seated in the seal. The S/S trim was a bigger struggle. Had some sections partially on but would not fully clip. Replaced several clips that were not stamped correctly. Reproduction parts- grrrr

Took many hours of work just to clean and install the roof rail trim and weatherstrip!!!! The factory applied some additional white caulk to the top corner of the A pillar. One side done, now the other.

When I was installing the professionally restored shoulder belts a while ago, I found 2 problems. There was no snap fastener on the belt end and the belt was too long!!! Thankfully, I have a friend who is very good at doing upholstery work and he installed a snap fastener and also shortened the belt to that the elastic end would connect properly. Other than that, the restoration quality of all the belts was excellent.

Have just started a restoration on a '69 Formula S 340 auto.
First - A bit of my Mopar history:
My very first car was a 1969 Barracuda Formula S fastback 340-4 speed that I purchased at Healey Motors Ltd in Pembroke Ontario shortly after I was married in July 1968. I bought it new in Oct 1968 for $4,598.60 CAD less $1,501.10 that was my wife’s prized 1965 Plymouth Valiant V100 4 door with a slant 6.

In addition to the 4 speed and Formula S Package, the Cuda was optioned with power steering and brakes, AM radio, Fold down rear seat, 3.55 sure grip, variable speed wipers, wheel disks and E70x14 tires. (The options totaled ($147.50 CAD)
After family arrived, I reluctantly parted with it and bought a 1978 Dodge Aspen 360 cid Station Wagon!!! The Cuda was subsequently destroyed when it was T boned by another car.
I've owned a couple of other '69 Cuda's over the years but later sold them.

This will be the 3rd major project I’ve tackled since I retired.

The first was a 1970 Superbird Pace Car

The 2nd was a 1969 Barracuda convertible 6.1 Hemi restomod.

Nice

Another step backwards☹️☹️ starting to get the Holley Sniper 1 system ready to fire, I set up to flush the fuel line. The pump ran, but no fuel flow from the Holley in-tank return less pump. Will have to drop the tank and pull the pump to find the cause.

Dropped the tank and pulled the pump. Nothing obvious wrong anywhere. Only thing left was maybe the pump was running backwards. That seemed unlikely since I’m very careful with my wiring. Reversed the polarity and the pump pumped fuel!! Then I saw how I screwed up. I used a HD trailer connector at the pump and connected red to positive from the battery relay and red to the red lead on the pump. I wired them at different times and never noticed that they wern't a matching pair. A senior moment strikes again!!!!

I decided to check the pump to make sure I hadn't damaged it by running it backwards. It pumped OK and had ~60 psi when dead headed as expected (it is a returnless pump with a built in regulator.) Then it started sucking some air, but I still had about 1" of fuel left in the tank!! I double checked to ensure the fuel filter was on the bottom of the tank.
Anyway, it tuns out that the filter is just a plain filter and not one of Holley's HydraMats A HydraMat will only allow fuel through and not air. I'm going to order a HydraMat to replace the suction filter. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/hydramat/

Back to doing some other reassembly. Installed the 2 mirrors on the doors. I used Dynamic Renovations support plates on the inside of the doors as added reinforcement.

Then onto some interior assembly. A pillar covers. These original covers had distorted a bit and required some rework to get then to fit correctly. (2 more afternoons of work!!) Then headliner side trim pieces. Kickpanels were next and then door sill plates. A few more parts out of a basement bedroom!!!

Posted this in the Body section. Help with garnish panel install on 69 Cuda FB.
but only got 1 reply.
I'm installing the rear window garnish panel and am unsure if it clips over this tab or not. I did get it over that tab on the pass side, but was very difficult. I took 100's of photos during disassembly but not one in this area!!! Looking for help from someone who has installed this panel on a FB.
