I'd put the smooth side to my back side, but thars just me. Maybe other folks like it rough?

you never Strike me as the type of person to have it sent to your door for twice as much...
That may be just around the corner LOL.... Time, place to get it done, etc has slowed or killed a lot of projects.

Perhaps it's time to order a blue print 408, eddy heads, Strange Dana, have the car built and done in 10 days and 10k later.....

  • 3000 strange dana with disc
  • 2500 408 blue print short block
  • 1500 eddy heads
  • 850 ultimate converter
  • 1200 nice 904 build
Total 9500.00

I would take your "please" as in "please do so..." because you are always pushing me to "build something fast".... LOL

EXCEPT....

You disagreed with the post... LOL

PLEASE...
I've considered going a '15 or newer Scat Pak. What would it cost you in your Duster to have:
  • FI,
  • A/C,
  • Cruise,
  • Power windows,
  • 4 wheel strut suspension,
  • 4 wheel disc brakes,
  • Air bags,
  • Rack n Pinion steering,
  • Mint Condition paint including under the hood, in the trunk, door jams,
  • Mint interior
  • Be able to run high 11's and still cruise 85 mph all day on a hot summer day across Nebraska with the cruise set, A/C on and getting 23 mpg ????

  • What would it cost??? A lot more than 30k I can get a Scat Pak for......

i have a Scat Pak. I love it, she is a total blast to drive. I have driven it from Oregon all the way to ND loaded down with so many tools it listed! 20 mpg all day any day and can break loose at 60 mph! With aero package she gets super wide and stable at about 95-105. The down force is amazing. I fully realize some folks don't like them but man what a piece of engineering L

I disagree with it because yes you should be building your own stuff. Of course one day we all might have a new car that does what our old car does and even better but that's what this forums not about.

You disagreed with me buying a 408/eddy heads and Strange Dana. That post listed nothing of a new car.... Post 1106 And there are a ton of folks here that build this way.

So if I buy a Scat Pak I have to leave the forum??? :realcrazy:

J Par......Now it's Jaws PARtrol….. :D

I thought you were the guy that is looking into a future aluminum head swap. And you ARE the guy that bought a stroker kit and had a machine shop assemble it. That isn't building your own stuff. Don't know how that is different from me buying eddy heads and a BP 408 ????

Please explain...???

yes I bought the stroker kit and the Pistons were here on my coffee table.

Yes I was there when my block was being shot pain and cleaned.

yes I was there when the rotating assembly was being balanced..

did I then go ahead and have not just a machine shop but one of the most reputable machine shops and Longevity machine shops in the northwest? You're damn right that's why it's still kicking *** to this very day. yes I got to be where everything was getting so precise I might as well let them continue and get me a nice short block to work with. And yes I had them do a couple hours of Labor touch up on my heads after I had obviously them machine for 202 valves. I don't own a machine shop. Could I have done more of the assembly myself and had some more bragging rights? Yes. You know I've had the heads on and off the cam out and obviously I did all my tin work myself. Did I completely rebuild my transmission and tear apart to every last pin and bearing yes. Did I do all the legwork for building my rear end yes some things yes can be left to a shop but much assembly is required. Of course just like a lot of my customers that I help they've bought crate motors with crate transmissions with crate rear ends. But then you got to tell them to put in new U joints. and nine times out of 10 there's a laundry list of a checklist that has to be all checked off by a Certified mechanic. You'll find that out when you get your crate stuff.. now come on you know my story why do you make me keep telling it again and again..
and I do a bunch of research and go back where you say you're not going to be goaded into anything more than Highway gears and filing on your parts?..

Did they charge you admission for watching the machine work and assembly?

Same post, I said I'm human and can change my mind in a month.... :D

P.S. - Answer the questions in order:
  • Why is it a bad for me to buy eddy heads when you yourself claim that aluminum heads are in your future?
  • Why is it a bad if I have blue print assemble a 408 short block when you had a machine shop assemble your short block?
  • If we are supposed to "build" power, then what's this talk you keep jawing about NOS ??? Gonna spray your horsepower, not build it?
Practicing what you preach is NOT your strong suit

now that's some real funny stuff and you might as well go ahead and make that some kind of Internet truth! LOL
No Ted remembers mr. Kingham my auto shop teacher used to tour us auto shop high school kids through his shop. he's now moved that shop into his own private shop on his property where he lives that he made from ground up. The only doing specialized stuff because he loves to. I asked him back then why he didn't sell this Prime real estate in the trendy District of Portland which had no business having a machine shop in it. Why he isn't in Hawaii living the high-life? He said because I like doing what I do with you right now going through the hot rod process step by step and enjoying the results and the joy that you get from it.

And now you know why I just cannot stop banging my head on the wall when I see that doomed 408 build thread. He's here in Oregon and he's sending his money to Hughes and their propaganda. We have a great man over in Vancouver with Oregon cam grinding we have Smith Brothers pushrods why oh why?

Fair question I thought. Point is, you were WATCHING, not ASSEMBLING. Just wondered the difference between your efforts and somebody who bought through Blue Print a short block.

P.S. - you didn't answer the questions in post 1122
