FixedThe heads on 1967 273 and 318s are ALL the same,
Closed chamber. I have a 67 formula S and and the heads are closed chamber. 1968 they went to open chambers when they introduced the 318.

I coulda swore Uncle Tony said that the SB Mopar was center sump and the combination of that and the windage tray led to starvation of oil...?
I don't recall though I haven't listened to his Gibberish in quite a while...
dowels are in the block ... I will measure the hole depth to the ledge in the head and then measure the pin height sticking out of block. also I will lay the head on the block and see how it looks and feels . this is a different engine block now so I have the check the dowel pinsWow, thanks for posting that. Do you have the dowel? I would install dowel in block and measure the stick out. If stickout is bigger I would deepen the hole(that's what she said).
Others more experienced will chime in. I'm hoping that's what it is as it seems like an easy fix?
ok I see ! the smaller diameter is the pilot hole for the actual larger pin size.I’d grind the dowel shorter if needed. You stick a drill bit in that hole to go deeper and you’ll wallow the hole out in no time, losing the position accuracy. Dowel holes are reamed after drilling undersize.
You can test fit the head on the block with no gasket, if the head sits on the deck you are good to go. Always a good functional check that takes no time or special tools.ok I see ! the smaller diameter is the pilot hole for the actual larger pin size.
