Haha, I sent you a PM. I had to look at your profile pic to know for sure. Just let me know if you have any specific questions. It’s a easy swap but there are some issues. When mine is done ( probably a week or so) Charles and me will drive it up there.

Well it runs but not well. 1-5-7 not firing and 2-6 not firing. I switched coils around with no change. I will investigate further try to figure this out.
I was able to gain some clearance with a shim I made for the drivers side. I’m gonna continue to finish everything else up.

That's why I am going to run the factory stuff. It runs great in the 07. It should do the same in my 88. I hope.

Update!!!!! Did some testing today and it appears that this was a car engine with the MDS. I tested the MSD and coils and the plugs fire fine. Removed the valve cover and and noticed the rockers on 4-6 not moving! My good friend Ryan came by last night and suggested that I check and he was spot on! Off the LKQ for some solenoids.
Radiator is in, front end back together. Getting closer!

The junkyard has provided one again! I will get these installed and see what happens.

Are you installing those because lifters weren't pumping?

Yes, it is needed to keep the oil to the lifters. This is an MDS engine. So even though there not plugged up, they keep the oil in the lifter.

Well as you can see in the video above, it is running but smoking out of the driver side and #5 still acts like it’s dead. Did a compression check and it was dead! 0 psi! Checked all the others and they checked out healthy 140-160.
I pulled the engine out and pulled the driver side head. What I found blew me away. There were no rings on #5 piston. I do remember finding a couple of rings in with some bolts when I picked the engine up but didn’t give it a second thought. Whomever removed them, reinstalled the piston and bearings and even went thru the trouble of torquing it. I had previously checked all rods and mains when I installed the #6 piston which was damaged from the valve seat issue. Can’t make this up and I have pics. Had it out and back in and running in a day. Runs even better now that it’s hitting on all 8, smoking stopped and has #145 psi compression on cylinder 5. Just another lesson learned. Planning to get exhaust installed next week.

The guy I got the engine from said he had looked into it but I had no idea he went that far and for what. Glad you got it back together again. Will be the spring before I can start on my truck. May need the 4x4 this winter to get the wife to work

I figured you didn’t know about the rings. Not sure why he did either!
Hopefully it won’t be a bad winter here. Charles’s wife has the Subaru, but I suspect he will take her also if it is.

Stage 1 is Done!!! Exhaust installed today. Used an Xcellerator muffler. It was tight to weld the driver side downpipe stub from the manifold but we got it done. This setup sounds similar to a newer hemi truck but deeper.
Anyone in NC needing custom exhaust work at a good price should go to Remco exhaust in Roxboro. John does really good work.
I am happy with the outcome up to this point, it went 48 miles with no issues or leaks. I have some tuning to do ie: only have 1/2 throttle with the pedal, trans shift points, etc.. then it’s burnout time!!!

Working on the carb tuning some today. Have the idle, cruise and part throttle close. WOT is gonna need some work. This intake has such a huge rectangular plenum that it’s gonna take some fuel to help transition. A wideband is a must when doing any carb tuning.

Sneaking up on the carb tuning in the rain. Got part throttle pretty good and now I’m on to the secondary side of things. I had went up to a #90 from a #84 jet and I have a 13.8 afr at wot. Probably gonna go up and get it closer to a 12.5afr. Installed a 50cc accelerator pump and arm for the secondary and I am able to transition to WOT with barely a bog. I have a #37 pump shot squirt but Holley recommends you have at least a #40 when you use a 50cc accelerator pump. Had to modify/massage the accelerator arm some to get the clip on. We are getting there guys.

Update!
Truck is doing very well and I’ve been driving it every chance I get. Still working on carb tuning and so far we are at 72 front, 35 squirt, 86 rear and a 40 soon to be 42 squirt. Those that have commented on this intake as being junk, well it’s been a challenge but I’m close on tuning. I mean it has a huge plenum. Big rectangle! Cold start, Part throttle and full throttle are done but still has a slight lean bog going to full throttle from a standstill. There are other intakes out there that seem to be a better design but I’m going to work with that I have.
My nephew is gonna Machine the oil breather holes bigger because this thing needs to vent better and it’s a pain in the ... to add oil.
I hoping to sell the intake, tuned carb and MSD hemi 6 as a package so someone can install and do burnouts without any major tuning once I go terminator X.

How about another video now that it’s all tuned up? Would like to hear how that exhaust sounds.

The msd ignition does it work with vvt?
Iwe got a 5,7 truck 2013 and a 6.1 from a jeep srt 8.
I like this idea with a hemi in my old truck :)
Wich would be the easy swap from a 318?
