The two pin ballast that I have, I don’t trust it, so tried the one side of the 4 pin. I have a new ballast coming today. I’ll try the other wire mentioned.

Without a starter relay, you have no way to get 12V when you engage the starter. That's why I recommended hot wiring it.

After our talk today I asked the question at the truck forum ...

Re: Quick Question

I usually use the permatex aviation form a gasket, the brown stuff in the can with the brush under the lid. it works pretty well on threads that are not pristinely clean. just make sure the threads go into the water jacket as you go, otherwise, if it is just a blind hole with no coolant contact, use oil on the threads just to ensure lubrication.
some guys swear by the GM branded head bolt sealer. not even sure what it's called anymore. some guys swear by the newer Permatex® High Temperature Thread Sealant, which lubricates as well as seals and is intended for head bolts and other high temp uses. you could google the permatex page if you wanted to check it out

Thanks Glen! :thankyou:

Spoke with Ray this morning, going to get the entire setup for ignition, HEI, etc. So, moved the ERS to the tall garage, much more room. I'm taking a look at the Carter carburetor that was on the super six intake, seeing if I can rejuvenate it. Seems simple enough, might look good painted matte black~ seems like my under the hood paint scheme it matte sage green and black. However if the Chinese carburetor does ok, I'll leave it alone until later.
Glen posted a link to the sealant I need for the intake studs, what I used isn't working very well. Lucky me

Bought this little shelf, just trying to get parts to where I can see em.

I'm amazed that this carter carburetor is cleaning up~ I let it soak in my 10 y/0 can of carb cleaner and sha-bang! Just need a kit, install it ,and put it on a shelf

Good morning! I need to pull my intake/exhaust back off to seal the studs BETTER (permatex didn't work), someone said the Remflex gasket is not re-usable? I do have one coming. But since it hasn't been ran, is it still not re-usable?

If Permatex didn't seal, something's wrong. What product did you use?

I actually was surprised that a few did leak, but it was a Permatex dark brown thick stuff. I felt I was meticulous and generous in application on the new studs bought from a member here, Badvert65, I figured I'll go ahead a remove the manifolds this afternoon~ have to meet a friend for brunch

The #2 doesn't work as well for that as the regular RTV. But you'll get it I'm sure.

I wouldn't worry about the gasket as the engine was not run.
As long as the gasket comes off in 1 piece.

Thank you both, gasser and Darter, I have the new gasket coming; guess I'll can just keep it to have it on hand.
:thankyou:

Always good to have spares.
Also after run in you will have to re tighten the bolts several times during heat cycles.
I say re tighten because a torque wrench is tough to get to (all) nuts.

Went and had a brunch with a close friend, actually Gary's friend, nice to get a little made up and it's so nice the humidity is low and my hair is straight! oh oh The gasket came apart like crazy! lol It's kind of weird material. I have the studs soaking in carb cleaner to loosen up the Permatex. I'm thinking to use a regular gasket, at least order one. The mating surfaces are clean, so maybe a regular one might seal ok? So, I've learned, you cannot reuse the Remflex gasket

Yeah they usually don't last disassembly. They're very fragile. Fragile, you know....Italian. But yeah they're made out of graphite material.

I"m always looking at seats, these are out of a Chrysler 300s front and rear for 600bucks. plus a 3 hour drive. I'm not going to buy them, just looking, but they look nice in the picture. meh Kind of dumb, this is the only picture. It doesn't cost extra on fB to put a mess of pictures.

One picture is a red flag for me.

I do agree, but I keep seeing the 300s seats and other seats like them~ I think if I see a set closer by, I'll load up the DArt body on my trailer, take it over and test fit them!

I had bought these seats a while back, they're out of a VW something. They do need repair, mainly the drivers seat of course. they were only 100bucks; something to play with. And Ray's right, the width is a concern regarding the ones I shown a few posts back.
sigh, time to clean the gutters~ hopefully the last time for this year!

I'm a use what you got kind of guy. Seats are something you can change later after all the major work is done.

I had bought the entire exhaust from Ray, he kind of chuckled on the phone, saying, the tailpipe is genuine Chrysler part, kind of neat;)
