Well got some other work done today, filling the gaps on the center console, have a aluminum plate coming to do a modified too, adding cup holders with removable inner sleeves for bigger cups lol they have lights at the bottom, course those will be on it's own dimmer cause those are bright. Opened the other holes on the flex plate to accommodate the double bolts for the TC, will take it to a shop near by and double check the balance, had it all balanced before I had the converter. Might be getting my block on Monday, still some issues with fitting the lifters might have to go a different maker.

Well rewashed the block after picking it up on Monday, going to be going with a different lifter, just can't get the Crower s to work on this block at the 59 degree. So once I get my money back I'll order the other type. Got the block inside paint with the oil resistant paint first time doing this, think it turned out pretty good.

Took a little advantage of black Friday sales and picked up some 3 1/2" speakers for the center dash , will get those mounted tomorrow along with reassembly of the engine finally, get the short block all done so once I get the new lifters ordered and in can assemble and measure for push rods.

Well got the engine short block all out back together, went to install the balancer and my cheap installer broke (I know get what you pay for) bought a new better one from comp cams, degreed in the cam, ran into a issue with the bronze gear getting that taken care of, front cover and water pump on, modified a bracket for the alternator to use the ARP bolts instead of the allen head ones that cam with the kit. Getting closer.

Well got the right bronze gear in,will order that coated one from Hughes for once this one goes out after many miles. Went to go and install the balancer and got close as you can see but not close enough, ordered the ati from Summit, doesn't tell you as the ati website does that you have to cut off the timing indicator from the front cover, so off it all comes off again, will grind off that tab, and get someone to tig a piece onto it. Not sure why ATI made them this big should have just done one to go in place of the stock one. Ordered my lifters too today

Matt did you add additional holes for oil drain back from the top my machinist said with what i have it will empty the sump pretty quickly he want's to mill slots in the top of the lower valley is there any other option.

Yes I drilled 1/2" holes in the middle of each opening. In the picture above where I painted the block post #227 you can see the holes.

Well tried to install the new rear brake kit but didn't know ford had different offsets for axle housing flanges to axle flange, used to mopar rear end all the same. So emailed wilwood to see if maybe I can just swap what's needs to be swapped.

Well wilwood said they can't help per day aka help alter a kit of theirs but they did get me a number of another guy that does. After talking to Tod at TCE(Tod Cook Engineering) came up with a way to make this kit work, just swapping out the spacers on the caliper bracket, started with .140 off the ones that come with the kit, which that was a bit off still, ended up with 7/16" spacers and everything clears, also checked clearance on the new wheels, a tad closer than what wilwood recommends 1/8" but it's close to it, wheel spins good, no contact with the caliper at all. So ordered some new spacer up as soon as they get here will install the new rear brakes.

Magnums that have been ported and polished, they were also predrilled for LA intake so I can use my super victor.

Got my new lifters in today from GS Products, and they fit perfectly, finally a win for putting this thing together. Got the cometic gaskets on and the heads are just hand tight for now will torque them down tomorrow. Put the valve covers on just to keep it clean, my engine bag doesn't cover the while thing anymore lol. Also tomorrow will start to measure for push rods.

Thank you me too. No I didn't but can you run a mechanical water pump on that looks like it's just made for a electric.

Last edited:
Just tried the pump sits up about 3/16 the electric Moroso is fine
It sits up the same amount the pump shaft protrudes from the impeller all the bolts line up

Just went out and that cover went work for my prw pump, but thanks wish it could. Bummer he didn't have the impeller groove milled I to that cover to accommodate both styles.

Got a kick out of a stock small block mopar 7" push rod on this Ritter block, course my 9.6 deck counts a lot for it lol, 7/8" difference in length from the top of the stock rod to the bottom of my lifter resting on the springs. Lol

Well got the new spacers in for the rear brake system but my mistake ordered the wrong thickness so just order the right thickness, they are just in adelanto here in California, if anyone every needs a certain size spaces these guys are very good on price called Aluminumspacers.com
Thought if pass it along

Well just dropped off the console to get the top plate trimmed down and the holes put in for the shifter and cup holders, the are also going to weld the hole closed on the front timing cover. Few weeks out till done, but that will be all set, they are also going to make a mount for the stereo to be bikted onto of the consoles top plate too, them off to powder coating for both the console cover and plate and the front timing cover. Took it all to the same place that did my dash. Great people there.

Got the rotor hats safety wired today, first time doing I with the help of my dad while they are down visiting.

Couldn't get any work done today on the car, my youngest was sick. But I noticed yesterday that my grant steering wheel was cracked in two places, have only used it to pull out from under the dash and it cracked, cheap crap I say, email summit about it and Grant only has a 90 day warranty, let's just say I wont be buying another one of theirs, did order a MOMO tuner one, so hope this one is better quality then a grant.

Got both side brakes all done, bad news is they dont fit the steel rims that were on the car lol always something, wish I could swap the tires over dont want to buy new ones and just let them sit on the car, still a bit till I drive the car. But new rims clear nicely. It's all rotor back there lol

Well got my pushrod measured out today had to buy a 12" digital micrometer. But got 7.930" for both intake and exhaust. And just needed to see it, bolted the intake on just o see. Getting closer.
