Yep, yay finally lol dropped of the flex plate yesterday to have rechecked due to opening the other holes for the 8 bolt pattern PTC put on this converter. Just hoping the front cover can be welded else that will be another set back but cross that bridge when I get there.
Got the oil and trans coolers side brackets done up will order or see what I have around to connect both together in the middle and secure it to the rad support. Had to space the radiator out a bit to get them to fit.
Well mounted the old tires on the new rims, a friend wanted the steel ones so we swapped tires. Also has to order new headers the hedman truck headers wouldn't clear on the drivers side due to the extra bolts for the W heads, so now just need to get my friend over and we will cut and reweld the pipes going to the turbo. Push rods get here tomorrow so will get those installed once they get here.
Got the pushrods today, will put them in when we get back, heading to Idaho to visit my parents for new years. Also got a call today saying my front cover is all welded, console cover is done and adapter box for the stereo is all said and done. Well pick it up when we get back.
Well picked up the console and front cover today, turned out awesome, just need to fill in a bit on the gaps and drilled the holes to mount the top plate, also the flat portion for the stereo. Well that was a step forward, was installing my pushrods and one of the inserts decided to pull out (bottom picture) and a few others started to get pulled too, so need to remove these and need to upgrade to a 9/16 to 5/16 for the bolts for the rockers. They were installed with no lock tight like highest instructions say, I didn't do them and maybe who I got them from had them done, I dont know but at least it happened before it was all together and in the car ready to fire.
Well got all the bad inserts I can out, once i get the new ones will have the shop drill them out. Decided to paint the inside of the front cover to match the engine and to help oil flow back from spray.
Got the new oil fitting with gauge port to feed the turbos, also installed the front cover and water pump, need to get the balancer honed, so will take that up to the shop once the new inserts show up and just take it all at once.
Well thing have been slow my debit card got hacked so waiting for a new one hopefully it comes today so I can take the heads in to have the inserts replaced, got those in yesterday. Been working on the console a bit tighting up gaps to the new top, and extended the side support since that side was broken off. So hope the card comes today and can take the heads in tomorrow.
Well more sanding and massaging the console today getting closer to finally being done with it, just tighting up gaps. Also got to dimmer switch mounted for the led cup holders, once I can put it in the car after paint will finish wiring it up, just connect the power and get a good ground.
Finally got the gaps to where I was happy with, added bracing to help keep light out from underneath case those cup holders are bright and just didnt want the light coming up the sides of the top plate. Smoothed it all and laid down a primer coat, sanded a little but to windy to paint. Also got the top mount plate for the stereo bolted to the console top plate, need a few more openings and getting the screws I want to mount it down, but wanted it all separate for easier install in the car. If it's not windy will paint the console and top plate of the console to match the dash.
Finally all painted and semi assembled, now to wire up the led lights and get that set up and ready, ordered the stereo head unit so I can get that part installed as well and can put the console in the car.
Finally get to install the console part, waiting for the head unit to come in tomorrow so I can mount that inside the top part then I can mount it all up on th console then it's just wiring it all in. Also thought why not use the paint from the inside of the block to help insulate the bottom of the intake to help heat rising. Might get a raised eyebrow about it but what ever if it helps great, if all it does is stops the bottom from turning that nasty color when its raw aluminum so be it.
Well I tried to install the stereo box with the console in the car and it wont work to talk, so I came up with this to jb weld the nuts onto the bottom, not like I need it all that tight the top part is plastic. Waiting for word if a company has maybe some better inserts. Hope they do and I get the heads back to install them back on. Will order up a windage tray next week, already have a scrapper being made and should be shipping soon I think.
Got the head unit installed and at least power is wired up. Also put some protectant lining in the console open area. Have to remake the cover below the stereo to close that gap, first one was a little short.
Haven't done much, heads should be done here soon so will get those back and put back on the engine and adjust the rockers one more time, and hopefully be able to drop the motor in the car soon. Just need to drill a hole for a dipstick in the side of the pan so I can always make sure. This piece is for the engine loom to pass through, will seal that up with silicone when harness is through.
