67 valiant redo

-
I'm still around, just tying up loose ends with the car. Getting all the gauges working in the dash, speedometer has caused me a couple issues. Should have the new wheels and tires on tomorrow.

Oh ok. It sounds good. Great video! How's it feel running and driving it? Worth your time?

Thanks, I got the new wheels and tires on, can't really see them in the picture(black wheel at night). The new setup is as follows:

Front - 17x9 M/T sc-5 flat black with a 245/40/17 BFG sport comp 2
Back - 17x10 M/T sc-5 flat black with a 275/40/17 Nitto nt555r drag radial

As far as driving it goes, it is getting better. The drag radial were a BIG improvement. First gear actually hits pretty hard now. It seems likely to me now that the new setup is faster than the old 451.

Hard to see much in this pic, I'll post a day time one tomorrow.

Yea, it's sharp with the MT wheels. Looks pro touring to me. I'll bet your mpg and hp is better when you get it dialed in. Planning to do this to my 67 cuda. Following this closlely. Btw, you wanna sell the 451? I know someone lookin.

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately, I already sold the 451 a while back.

Here are a few more wheel pictures with some daylight:

I learned something today(thanks FABO). I was having some intermittent clutch sticking to the floor issues. I tried a couple fixes and adjustments, but never totally got rid of the issue. I always just assumed the large spring under the dash on the clutch pedal was a return spring, but the more I looked at it.. it didn't seem to be stretching(quite the opposite at bottom) when I pushed the pedal down. Did a bit of searching on here and its actually an over-center spring. Once I took that out(pain in the rear, btw) the clutch is feeling great, albeit slightly heavier.

How do you like the wheels your running? I was looking at those pretty hard. What backspace do you have on the rears? Did you mini tub the rear? What rear end is it?

Assuming you are referring the the M/T sc-5 wheels in the later pictures. I like them alot and for the current blow out pricing on ebay they are tough to beat.

They are 17x10 on back with a 6.21" backspacing.

No mini-tub

I am running an offset spring hanger and a 5mm wheel spacer.

Rear end is an a-body width 8-3/4

Sorry, I shouldve clarified. Yes, the Mickey Thomsen wheels are what i'm referring to.

Its been awhile since I've posted anything new about the car, but I just made a change to the dash. I decided to switch to the Holley digital dash and make a new gauge cluster for it. Here are a couple of the default gauge layouts.

Thumbs up on the dash....perfect fit for your hot rod.

Thanks guys. I just got the short block back and am working on the swapping my parts to it now. It is a forged piston and rod 370 cube engine that should have a bit more compression(11.3 to 1)

Wish I'd kept my scamp. It would be a better candidate for my LS swap than my cuda,,, but oh well. Mines a 6.2/376 as well.

Such a cool car! This thread inspires me and makes me excited about moving forward with my similar LSX build for my (soon to be aquired) HDK front end for my 66 Coronet 2dr post.[/I]

Cool thing about the LS swaps are the car isnt hurt. If you want to go back old skool, just swap a stok k back in and drop an old mopar V8 back in. Too many people poo poo in it. I say build it. Its your car to do it your way.

My wife showed me a pic of a nice clean 70 chevelle SS, i told her i'd jerk that 454 out, and put a 528 hemi in it without batting an eye. She was shocked. I told her they put chevies in everything else so turnabout is fair play.

LOL,,, so true,,, LMAO!

Yea, this project helps me be motivated. I use to be ol school. Built a 68 cuda 440/nos 30 years ago. My aluminum 585 hp LS3 would solve a lot of problems like fit, not needing power steering...400 pound engine, handling, cooling, better mpg, etc. Not to mention less temperamental and faster...

I did a bit more tinkering to make a cup holder/console. I might make a few changes, but figured I could show it off
