What I used was a 180 mandrel bend tube. I cut it at 60 degrees from each end. I got the rubber isolators from the parts store and fabricated / welded brackets to the pipes. Stud through the frame to hold it at the top. Tips are 304 stainless that I shortened / welded. I always add collector flanges on the ends of the mufflers, looks cool and makes things easy.

Cut the hood hole today. Able to run a 16 X 3” air filter with the 1” drop base. Plus able to keep the 1/2” shear plate under the carb and fit under the scoop.

Thanks, getting close to being complete but the transmission is coming out again. Dyno numbers tells me to play it safe and upgrade the front drum to a billet unit.

Denny I received the bulkhead recess box today and installed it. The box was the sure fix to get the wire harness plugs away from the valve cover. Thanks!
 
glad to be a being a small contributor to your bad-*** build.
 
Awesome documentary and stellar build. I'm sure the gentleman who you purchased the car from would never believe it's the same car and by the way, how did you make out with your title dilemma ?

Thanks A56! Yes the guy I got the car from is amazed at the transformation. My 13 yr old Grandson has since bought a car from him, a 69 Valiant 2dr. So we got another to bring home - whenever the border opens back up, but that tit Trudeau is on a mission to ruin this Country so things are on pause with that.
I registered this Dart as a classic and had no problem at all. It’s now in the system.

You’re correct A56. The hood is nice and sturdy and a good choice. What’s even better is that I fit it to both the hinges and pins and by slotting just the rear hood pin holes / plates a little, the hood nicely hinges down over the 4 pins. So that’s the way I’m going to run it, with hinges and build a cool prop rod. If I ever decide to only have hood pins, the factory hinges come out easy and replace the 2 rear pin plates.

I`m amazed u didnt center the hole with an offset air pan, I did , course u cant tell it under the scoop. The air pan to seal the throttle body has changed 4 times w/ diff. intakes , doesnt look this good now.

I’ve got no plans to junk up the motor with an air pan, or to cut an oval hole in the hood. Bob it will be a street legal, street driven car when it’s done, not a race car.

There’s a good chance that I’ll have a cross ram bolted on before I’m done.

That’s exactly right HemiRunner. The numbers from this 572 puts the Dart well into roll cage territory right now. A cross ram sure is a probability.
 
Dart project is pretty much done now. Just the transmission to drop and do some upgrades to but that's got to last me the winter. Oh and I want to gas shock the hood hinges so no prop rod is needed.

It was a tight fit but all good once you find the spot.

So some transmission safety upgrades, install, fire it up and that is a wrap I guess.
There will be a cross ram sooner or later, got my dyno numbers so if I loose 60 or 80 hp switching over it won't matter. But thanks to all for the help on this back yard garage project, it's been fun! Hope I kept you motivated.
