Here's the gasket on and then gasket off and scribed. There was either a lot of core shift or a lot of welding sessions and probably both lol.
Ya might have to zoom in to see it.

Tiny update; I have smoke and clouds in the area but still 99° so I went out and cut one runner to base my porting measurements off of. Although when I ported my heads I did them by eye and measured afterwards and it was close enough lol.
I'm already into some porous aluminum on the roof but I'm close to the shape I want. I just need to add a little taper going up to the plenum

If I bust through I'm going to need to buy a spool gun because I'm not putting another slow *** dab of aluminum on with a Tig welder.

I bought my third welder a couple years ago so I could add a spool gun to my lineup. Where the heck has our buddy Rat Bastard been. Tell him I miss him.

I finished roughing in the manifold, but I missed roughing the floors on 2 runners uh because it was almost dark.
now I get to go see how the ports line up and do some morning bullshitting with rat before he takes off for a week.
Nice sun set tonight from my front porch.

I told him, he laughed and said that's pretty sad if you think about it lol & thanks

I went and checked on my port alignment, looks great so far, just need to take sand paper rolls and flatten some stuff out then I'm going to give the burr finish a try. Tim gave me a carbide he bent and uses, it works great for him, hopefully I can figure out the technique. I should have a finished product and photos.
All that's left before Dyno time is, put boosters in the carb, change the tune for tunnel ram, linkage, put my valve covers on, put in oil and go get some race gas.
I have to break in the cam, piston coating and also not scorch my new coated headers.

This is the roughed in ports, just need to finish them and flatten the mounting flange for the top, it's pretty warped.

After rough cut, I took the paper rolls to it, no need for that picture.
Here's the burr finished product for the runners.

1st time , doing a burr finish.
I like it.

Well that's going to have to wait for a couple days.
Inside is done including the lid.

Here's the plenum top and just a little ugly removal. It looks like I have plenty of material outside for clean up. Not sure how far I'll go for detailing this but I'm happy with it so far.

That picture represented hours and hours of toil and sweat. Not counting no small amount of grim determination. Welding aluminum like that is super tiring as the heat is intense. Good job guy!

That's freakin badass! People are gonna ask where you got the intake, and you're going to be able to tell them you made it. If they even notice I guess. haha. At least you'll know! And us!

Hey thanks, I appreciate that.

Yep thank you. that is something I'm very grateful I have some skills and no fear of doing it. I'm going to be very happy when I finally get this engine on the Dyno, the only 2 people who have touched it since it was 1st built and failed will be rat bastid and myself
