70 dart 470 ci drag car build.

You sure that bar that ties into the down isn’t going to knock your knee??
But ya know if I would have put the bar down further I wouldn't have had to build that mount and could have welded right to the shock tower

Oh yeah, I forgot your long *** has to sit in the trunk so your knees aren’t in your face.
So, you're saying that I might get my 6 ft 7 inch *** in there? Now that would be something, especially with a cage like that. My Dart Sport had a shitty 4 point bar in it when I bought it, smacked my head every single damn time I got in, so it was the very first thing to get punted.

You probably would hit your head lol, I'm just a bit over 6 ft 2 but have long legs so the seat is back pretty far.

If I was 6 foot 7 I'd be building myself a 70 Chrysler 300 as a drag car lol

Well that's it for this week. Today was a little hotter than I like to work in a welding jacket and no air movement, but this week I proved something to myself...I can do pretty much anything I set my mind too. Not bragging just thankful.

For you that only care about the animal posts lol.

Not much on the car, I was tired from working at the sweat shop... I mean the machine shop.
Boohoo.
I woke up at 6 because one of our cats peed a full piss in my wife's side of the bed, near the pillows....so the day began. I moved everything in the room, vacuumed and then shampooed the carpets. If you need a very good working piss smell better er it's Jackson Galaxy (super nerd) brand.
Anyways lol. I was hot for me today with all the welding gear on and pants .
I got just the other frame rail sort of pretty for now.

As soon a I get the cage done I will be removing the factory floor pan from the firewall forward to just underneath the firewall rear. (backseat area)
I then will build a structure to tie the car together side to side and add in the additional rocker bars into the rollcage.
I'm going to use legal minimum.024 steel because I can weld that in, I was thinking aluminum but rivets are the deterrent.
The reason why I'm replacing the floor is because strength and the car isn't seeing a track this year and hurrying and quality (safety) don't go hand and hand.

One of these days I'll get over to rat bastids house with my tunnel ram and get that thing on the Dyno. Hoping the 470 will make around 650-675 range but who knows.

The tig battle for big runners vs shitty old cast aluminum has begun. I got 1 more bar installed on my cage. HOT HEAT HELL in the garage. More to come, lots more filler rod to add I'm at 70 ft of 3/32 and have the other half plus more on this side lol.

I got this car in 2018 for $400.00,
It sat at my mom's until 2021 since I had nowhere to put it. My wife and I bought a house out in the country and now I have a place to work on it.
So I'm in the destruction - reconstruction phase.
Mock up.
I apologize I haven't been great at remembering to take pictures.
But here you go. I haven't named the car yet

Good luck with your build I like it. But I'm a SBM guy.

Thanks, sbm is okay with me. If I recall your small block is pretty quick isn't it ?
It goes low 6's in the 1/8 112 mph. As my friends say " pretty good for a ragged Dodge" lol

Photographic evidence I am still working on the car. It's been hot so not a bunch of work done.
I finished the front frame bars and have been still welding on the tunnel ram, I'm on the other side and hope to get it welded and cut the flanges, probably .080 and that should line up very well with .015 gaskets. By the way if I haven't said it yet, the Hughes valley pan and gaskets are very nice quality.

Dogs are getting big quickly

Redneck neck surfacing try 1.
I need to make a fixture and probably should have tried this before I welded all over it.
I rewelded it & I'll spend a little time figuring a fixture rather than spending 4 hours trying to take off .080 at work. Our old surfacer is very slow.

Started on my super stock wheel arches.
I cut them a little small since I have a few questions for @Malex and didn't wanna ruin my car (lol). This will help with the mini tub, I hope

Anyways, just a update also...it's been hot so I haven't been doing much. But Tig welding the runners on my tunnel ram seems like I probably put 140 feet of filler material, gonna get big taper.

We must be on a similar wavelength!

Fold line in black marker, here's where it gets a bit more complicated
