Couple more pictures of roll cage progress.
Also I stopped into get my check from work and the mechanic/ assembly guy said Korie (me) I have a problem and it was, he was trying to get a short block assembled and test fit pistons and the bores was .001 under piston size. I had to help them out. That wasn't a block I had done but nevertheless, the ***** gotta go out the door.
The rest of the cage should be a bit more simple I hope lol

I love it. But without pictures of the girls this post is WORTHLESS.

JUST SAYIN’

No more dog pics till tomorrow.
I got 3 more bars in for the day. I only got 9 hours in today, those little diagonal bars with 2 angles were interesting to fit and to weld. Some of the ugly welds will be fixed by Tig welding when I finally cut the rest of the roof off .
Stupid pictures are not in order as I choose them!!!!!

Doesn’t matter. I know there are dogs there. They should be in the shop supervising. Things would go way quicker if you bounced your ideas around with them.

Thats what I do at the shop.
Well, I don't mind having the girls around but I personally know how irritating it is to get metal shavings in my eyes and welding burns, skin and eyes. I wouldn't want them to get hurt, i keep them nearby and check on them no more than 10 minutes with loves. shadow however he is smart he stays away when I'm doing that stuff. I bought a welding cap for under my helmet and he didn't know who I was lol.

What the hell @mopowers .
The art Morrison kit I have says the dash bar is designed to go over the steering column, but at the bend from the roof down bars it would meet center of the column. Can I go under the steering column or higher which would bring the bar in closer to the steering wheel, further away from the dash?????

Dash would've been easier to take out before the cage but then I would've been guessing at a few things. Working on my bars through the dash to the front frame now.

So these pinch weld areas are about butt *** ugly. I hate this.
IMG_20230624_153503535.jpg

This is more like it, cut to the seam, grind, weld, blow through, weld, grind and flap wheel shaping.

and lose a little more weight off of the nose.

You'll have to double check the rule book, but I don't think it matters where the bar is. It's really only required with a modified firewall, but I'm sure it adds a ton of stiffness. If I were you, I'd want it as far from my knees as possible.

Okay perfect, I didn't see anything in the rule book and yes I agree... away from the knees

I'm trying to get these bars mocked up but it seems the turn down to the frame rails are 2 inches shorter than I'd have liked them so I'll be building these boxes in mounts to ugly up the rail I made better ill probably try to make them less rectangular and maybe slanted on each side.

Finally, I wish that this was my job !

I got this bar in today and made a mount for the short turn down to the rail.

You sure that bar that ties into the down isn’t going to knock your knee??
That one is on the bend and is 14 inches away from my knees. My seat is in the rear foot well nearly so I have plenty of room.
