72 duster Build progress

-
More pictures of it today guys.

demasked, off jack stands, back on the rallys (they are dirty but it still looks good), we did some wet sanding and cut and buffing where my stripes go and some other areas and in a couple of weeks we will wheel the whole thing out the rest of the way. The paint came out really nice to begin with but we wanted a mirror finish out of it!.

Will be posting more pictures and progress soon ,so stay tuned everyone!.

STAY TUNED!

Thanks guys. I hope to inspire people after they read through my thread. good feeling to give people ideas for their car and motivate them into getting things done ( I did the same along the way of building my duster).

snd yes, I cant wait to start putting it together. Right now we are still wheeling the car out but once that is done I will get the stripes and stuff put on. I still need to get some buffing wheels to polish up all my trim before I can put it back on.

I still have a decent sized list of things I want/need for the duster....but that list is finally getting smaller which is a good thing lol. I got some more pictures today during wet sanding and wheeling but im to tired to load them up right now lol, so stay tuned to the thread guys because I will be posting up more pictures soon.

It's all your prep work that's showing. All the hours of priming, sanding, sanding, sanding and more sanding until your arms feel like they'll fall off. l mean just look at the nice, straight, crisp, clean lines. That's what I'm seeing now. Not a wave or ripple anywhere. As others have said - AMAZING!!!!! Give yourself a big pat on the back.

So.... when do you want to start on my Demon? lol

Wylde1.

Thanks guys.

And wylde1, yeah as much as I HATED all of that sanding lol.....it did pay off, its very straight.

you can keep the work on your demon for yourself HAHA.....I don't have any plans of doing another any time soon. However, my painted was so impressed with the work done to the duster that he has already tryied on multiple occasions to help him finish a mustang he is working on. And he has a 70 'cuda coming in soon that is getting basically everything I did to my duster and then some....he wants me to help him with that aswell. I just don't know if I can do the sanding LOL.....kind of burned out on sanding for awhile. I don't mind doing the metal work though really.

Anyhow, I am very happy with how the duster came out and I am glad I didnt give up or cut corners. To me its a great accomplishment and I am proud of myself for seeing it through and not giving up when things got tough.

its not finished yet, but its atleast in the home stretch and with the bulk of the work done. stay tuned guys because the pictures will be coming more often and there should be steady progress.

Some pictures during wetsanding and wheeling ( will post more of the finished product later today)

Good eye Mike!, yup we had the races on lol.

And thanks! its been a long road....but its finally coming together.

My painter threw his back out today so I ended up finishing wheeling the car out. Everything came out really clean. We didnt wetsand or wheel the top of the car yet, we are going to do that later down the road, we just wanted to get the sides all knocked out because I am going to be putting my stripes on and what not.

I then threw my new rear bumper on and tossed my lights in and marker lights. we then blew it all off, rinsed it off with a hose, wiped it clean and dry and then used a nice spray wax on it.

Then I drove it back over to my parents garage ( love driving it lol ). and I got bored and installed my new glove box liner and put my new door seals on. Here are some pictures from today. STAY TUNED, MORE TO COME SOON!

i just found this thread and i gotta say you do amazing work im very impressed with the quality of work and the patients you put into it .It makes me want to get started on my duster but due to a few really rough years its sitting in storage and i dont have the means to touch it right now . when i can though i can only hope that it will turn out even half as nice as yours has . thank you for sharing all your craftsmanship and hard work on here ive learned alot from this thread so far.

Not a problem, I hope people can use my build thread for ideas and motivation.

Hang in there, its taken me 3 years to get to this point....at times I couldnt do anything to it either and it had to just sit for months on end without getting touched. But you will find time eventually. good luck.

well, today I decided to start on the stripes, got the drivers side done but had to call it a day before I ran out of daylight. So I will probably finish the passenger side tomorrow.

Check it out!.... completely changes the looks of the Duster! (thanks to challengergary for the stripes by the way. nice quality stuff!)

ChallengerGary's stripes are the shizzy... no doubt whatsoever.. I loved the stripe he did for the buggy, and I have to say dude, your right, that stripe really sets your Duster off.. Man does that look sweet!! I am loving watching you get her together.. This must've been how you felt watching the Dart go together LOL .. Your car is no doubt gonna be absolutely bad *** dude..

love it with the stripes- still debating putting some on mine (my brother picked up a set, but they're '73, so that won't work) and yours makes me more convinced that I'll put some on (although no 340 callout until I get the 416:D).
