**73 Scamp Mini Pro-Street Engine Swap**

Is your shoe covered with duct tape glue? You know with the pedal control taped to your foot so you could lay on your back and use the roof/a or c pillar, interior walls as the spot to control the torch? LOL

Looks nice.

I got a 6x6 block of wood in the car and I'm using that to rest the pedal on. I've used my knees, elbow, forearm and I was gunna use my Chile to press the pedal too! Lol
Duct tape is on the menu though for sure after I get the seat back out out. I wanted to be sure I had all the seat belt mounting points marked before I take it came back out. I figure I'll get some blankets and a couple pillows in the car too. I keep loosing my breath.... I'm all twisted up....Too many tacos! Hahahaaa

I'm taking the photos! Lol...... Pete is facing the camera. The other guy is Dan.

Pete is building Dan a 2010 camaro. It was a theft recovery he picked up for 2k. Full back half and it's going to sit on the ground. Pete has the back half mostly done and is working on the K Frame right now and tying in the rest of the cage. The camaro is getting a TT small block. 1500 hp or so.

Sounds like a neat ride.

Your car is coning around nicely.

I just ordered the rest of the cage stuff.

1) Rear Lap Belts to match front from Crow
2) Mounting hardware.
3) Window net and hardware from Stroudsafety.com , Crow does not make custom nets.

On the net it will attach with grommets/allen screws on the bottom inside of the door bar. On the top it will have a Rod with 2 push button release buckles. It should look really clean when it is all done. I got Black to match the seat belts.

Crow is FAST………. My stuff is already here along with the hardware.

The net is another story. They called me today to clean up the payment. Apparently they missed the hardware or 1/2 of it or something. Anyway I told the lady I want to make sure it will be right on the tubes so I will call her back tomorrow. Once a custom item is paid for and made…… well you know the deal, you own the sucker! Better to be safe than sorry. Cost is $175.00 for the Net and all the hardware.

Just called my painter friend. He is going to come over hopefully on Friday and take a look at painting the cage……He is pretty busy but says he can squeeze it in possibly in the next week or so. I know for a fact that I will not be doing any painting… I will screw that up in a heart beat.

That sounds, like a wicked bastard Mad Dart. Car's coming nicely.

Experimenting with the trim detail around the A Pillar. This car is a little different than my 67 as to how the A Pillar lands. I will clean it up a bit more before I finalize it. I will tackle the dash pad notching after I finish welding off the cage. Should finish it off clean when it is all done, the trim will wrap around the bar until it butts up against the dash pad.

The window net is all ordered up. They said it will take a Week before it ships.

Here is the Chrysler color right from Autozone. Dark Forrest Green Metallic. I used it to paint the trunk springs. It is pretty close to the color of the car. As normal it depends which way you look at it. I think maybe I might just get 4 or 5 cans of it and go for it. I hate masking stuff off. I have plastic but no paper. It would only cost me $40.00 for paint, 2 Hours of masking and probably 1 hour painting if that.

Hmmm………….. Maybe use some dark primer to take some of the bluish look out.

I think the color that matches the interior better is Medium Green or better known as Amber Sherwood, Or possibly Ivy Green metallic 1970 eF8... I'm going to see if I can find some mixed up n spray cans.

See if you can get some actual samples of carpet you may want. The colors are often a little different than what you see on the web.

Yes they will send them for free.

I just ordered the samples. 4 for the carpet and 1 for the headliner. On the head liner I would probably need to have someone do a material overlay on it. The Cage will stop anything hard backed from going in.

Worked on the car a bit. I got the front strut bars all gusseted off, Welded Off and Painted. The firewall is patched in real nice around the holes. I did also add some small gussets from the A Pillar up to the Strut bars. So now all the fab work done on the cage. I added a little bracket on the cage for my O2 Gauge on the passenger side. It is tucked up and is visible from the drivers seat.

I ran out of Gas and Wire for the Mig…… and Gas for the Tig. Figures, Lol

Tomorrow I will be heading to swap out the cylinders for new and gather all the other stuff that I need.

It is time for a Tig Welding Party!

Dude ........... YOUR FRIGGING NUTS.......... 2 Thumbs up !!!! :)

Lol.

Oh forgot to mention all the seat belt mounting provisions are done also. I knew I was forgetting something.

Window net should be here about the same time the welding will be all done.

I found a place in Hemet called Smitty's Auto Paint that will mix up some paint for the cage and put it into a spray can. $35.00 for 2 - 12oz cans. I think 4 should be enough. 2 cans of primer should do it.

Louis do you have any pics on where your front bars come thru the fire wall and tie into cage. We are going to do ours just like yours. Did u ask NHRA about removable back brace bar. We asked our Nhra chassis cert inspector. He told us swing out side bars were ok but not removable back brace.

No I don't but can take some.

The top of the tube is just about level with the bottom of the dash as it goes through the firewall.

I am pretty sure it is legal to have the removable brace behind the seat. Alstonchassisworks.com sells them as such. I am sure it is legal, it is more than likely just your tech inspector at the track. If they get a hair up there wazooooo they can call out for anything and not let you run. If it is a problem I will just pop out the pins and put some 1/2" Grade 8 Bolts in it then they can cry all they want but it is legal! :banghead:

Dash pad is cut in. Damn this one was brittle as fck. The 67's Dash pad was way more flexible than this one. I will need to put some crazy glue over some of the areas just incase it cracks all the way through. I am pretty picky, most won't ever notice the things that I notice.

I ended up buying the Seat Bezels that HOTMOPR turned me onto. $25.00 and the guy took it. I need to cut them in.
