**73 Scamp Mini Pro-Street Engine Swap**

-
Any updates on your progress Louis.

Not yet. All parts are here and I started assembling he fuel line plumbing. I had to finish up my smoker first though! It is finally done! So I will now be going ape **** to get the EFI Installed on e85!

Smoker done!

Seasoning the Cook Chamber. I think I have the vents wired. I can hold temps wherever I want. It has been running for about 4 hours.

It holds 225-250* very easy... Like set it and forget it easy. Pretty sure I will be able to hold any cook temperature I need to cook with!

I am well pleased with the turn out. It hardly uses any fuel either once everything heats up. Oh.... It does not leak any smoke from anywhere. 100% Sealed without a doubt!

Just got back from a trip to AZ to set up our last daughter in College. Got 3 in now at the same time........$$$ , expensive is all I can say.

I do have all the parts needed to install the EFI. It has just been too dang hot to install it. I am going to wait until it cools down. It is no fun sweating your *** off working on this stuff. It is supposed to be fun! Not so fun in 100*+ temps.

Well I just had a long talk with Ken at FItech about e85 and how much boost I plan to run.

He said I for sure will run out of injector.... He also said his bigger system is put on hold for now and it will not be hitting the market for a very long time.....So that being said. I will be going a different route on this one and taking it back for a refund.

Megasquirt MS3-Pro is most likely where I will end up. Full Sequential, coil near plug set up.

http://www.ms3pro.com/ms3-pro.html

I bought the CPS "Cam Position Sensor" and I put the call into getting the adapter that is needed to run it today. I will be going 36-1 Trigger wheel etc. This project will take me awhile to put together. I will be collecting parts in the next few months and install it when the weather cools off.

what about the new fast efi 2.0 version good for 1200 hp. has 8 injectors. I am stacking my chips to order the holley terminator efi set up. i only plan to run a 150hp wet shot in the near future so i don't need nearly as much as you do.

Nah, I would run out of injector on that one as well when using e85.

The MS3-Pro has everything and more than just about any thing out there and I will not be power limited. It has enough to run 16 injectors for big HP application's if needed. It even has and option to add a GM Flex fuel sensor. This way I can put whatever fuel I want in the tank 91 or e85 without emptying what is in it. It will automatically sense it and tune for the mix on the fly. Crazy stuff right there.

I am returning the other system today. I have most everything needed in my shopping cart's for the new system & I just got off the phone with Jerry at SD Concepts and purchased the Adapter I need for the CPS. CPS was ordered yesterday. This will handle the Cam Signal to the ECU. Jerry also just told me that he will have a complete 36-1 crank trigger set up ready to go in 2 weeks. Billet bracket, sensor etc included that works perfect with the MS3-Pro.

Here is a few pictures of the CPS and CPS Adapter. Total cost for this was right at $100.00 for the CPS and the Adapter. Very clean install for MPFI applications where it is best to separate the Crank and Cam signals on these old *** mopars! haha
I modified a lean burn Distributor for my last one. This set up is easier, better and saves at least 4 hours of labor.

so that cam gear just stays in place to keep the shaft from moving in the housing? it wont hit the brass bushing in the block for the intermediate shaft?

No it will not hit the brass bushing. On a small block the oil pump drive shaft sits down into the brass bushing the distributor is in there with the old down and that slot mates into the oil pump drive slot. That gear is just there for the ride. It is pinned and keeps it all together. It is a Hitch Hiker! haha

This is a bad case of thread hopping! I am there with you in putting a blower on - I think a blow through 4500 carb will just be too tall on my B block 499 cause if the size of the 4500 hat (I have a 4500 E85 carb and the hat - huge).

Soooo, I can adapt a 4150. need a throttle body. The 4150 1200HP system looked about right but now you say not enough flow for E85. Isn't the 1200HP system supposed to have 8 injectors? Are they in the carb or do they mount on the intake?

So if that system doesn't cut it, what about using a Holley like this and sizing the injectors to the power/fuel?

https://www.holley.com/products/fue...p_4bbl_multi_port_retrofit_kits/parts/550-500

That would require adding injector ports to the intake which is how I need to go as my intake is matched to the B1 head ports. In a way I am lucky to have Monte Smith nearby cause he is a big Holley FI tech but he wouldn't do FI on my hotrod unless I let him replace all of the orig wiring - no go.

Another way I have considered is to use a 90* 4500 flange throttle body elbow and a 105MM TB, with the 8 injectors added to my manifold. Then use some EFI system like holley or ?

Hey, I just got off the phone with Ken at FiTech. He confirmed the E85 flow dilemma but said they COULD put in bigger 120# injectors that would come close to 1200 HP on E85. They have some guys out there that want them. Anybody else want a bigger flow system?

Louis is gonna break that block. Better get looking for a R3.

Lol, I just dropped mine off for a refund. That block won't break. That stuff is all a myth!! I proved it here........Lol

I have been doing some research and 1200 cc injectors would do it at about 80% Duty Cycle. 1600's are good for about 1800 hp. That is weird.... I asked about the bigger injectors and he said that they are not about all of that. He also told me he don't know where to get any bigger injectors that would fit it... Maybe he found some yesterday?

You are going to be impressed with the adapter from Jerry. I gathered all the parts to MS3X my 408, then I scored a G3 hemi, so that will now get the MS3X.
Just an FYI, not sure what you were planning to use for an intake, but I thought simply welding bungs in my M1 was going to be a cost effective solution over the $375 edelbrock. I was wrong. I ended up paying $320 to have bungs welded in. The machinist said the aluminum was garbage and he had a hard time with it. He is a reputable guy too. In the end I would have been better off buying the e-Brock. Either way, it looks awesome!

That holley is not what I am looking for. The MS3 Pro puts that Holley in the weeds. MS3 Pro has way too many features to list.

Yes I am drilling at modifying my manifold for Injector bungs and getting some type of throttle body. Most likely I will go with a LS Style 92 MM Billet throttle body unit off ebay. I have done a bunch of research on them. FAST is the exact same part except it has FAST engraved into it. A guy on Yellow bullet had both, took them apart ant they are Identical built in China. All part numbers for everything match to the tee. Ebay one cost $98.00 , the FAST unit that is the exact same, shaft seals and all is over $400.00........ Funny what you can learn on these forums.

I do my own Tig Welding so I will be adding the bungs to my M1 that is port matched with the Plenum all knocked down & Ready to go.. FYI, That intake needs to be heated before any welding gets done on it. It will weld like butter after it is heated. Bungs are $70.00 for 8 of them with the fuel rails included.

Are you talking about the Super Victor with the bungs in it already? FYI the S. Victor intake ports are very skinny compared to all the other intakes so port matching it would be a must for me.
I had one of them set up on my engine before. MSX3 with Expansion. TT, Meth, Boost Control and all kinds of stuff hooked up on that one.

My old project. Dam I did a lot of work to that car!

Another reason to get a tig machine...

That TB I have is a used 92mm for as LS. eBay special. Won it for $80. Exactly like the FAST TB as you stated.

Cool!

What size injectors are you running and where did you get them.

I used low impedance bosch injectors on my last one which required me to use a Versafueler to step them up to high impedance.

http://www.acceleronics.com/versafueler.htm

For the life of me I can not find any high impedance 1600cc Injectors anywhere.

Haha. Those were eBay specials too. They are brand new take offs from a 6.4 SRT Hemi. I was going to be N/A on pump gas so they would have been sufficient.

Hmm, what size are they?

Everything I am reading is the Low Impedence Injector will have way better Idle and off idle quality.

If I have to run the versa fueler I guess I will just do it.

Louis have you checked out injector dynamics, they carry 1700cc and they are high impedence, ran their 1000th on my srt4

I will check Matt & Thanks! I did find some High Impedance ones but from what I have been reading and remembering from the TT Dart is the Low Impedance Injectors are the **** to get even if you have to run the Versafuler or any type of resistor unit on them.

Update:

I have purchased the MS3-PRO, wire harness along with all the sensors including a 3 Bar Map Sensor good to 44PSI. Billet 92MM Throttle body, TPS, Idle Air Control Valve, Fuel Pressure Sensor. D585 Coils, all pig tails, CPS Unit for Cam Signal, adapter.

Next up is.... Injectors & Versafueler, Fuel Rails & Bungs, EFI Regulator, Intake Elbow.
I think that is it. I may be missing a few things but the purchasing will be over here real soon.

Oh and I will be ordering a crank trigger with 36-1 wheel from Jerry at SD Concepts as soon as they are ready. He said about 2 weeks.

Get a outboard engine primer and work on that grip, squirting fuel in as you go. :)

It's been a while, but I think they are around 50lbs/hr- way too small for boosted E-85. I've never heard bad things about high imp injectors. I know a lot of the LS guys are using Siemens DEKA 80lb in boosted applications. That's probably on gas though.
