A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
Now things are getting intresting, maybe this whole job thing Denny has going is really a ploy to get away. I bet he is leading a team of super secret enginers developing a new Hemi with a flux capisitor. I saw him working with Blue Missile over on his thread. There has to be something to this, we should dig deeper.

hmmmmmm......... Could it be he is a just a great guy? :hockey:

Ok, we will go with that (HemiDenny the Great Guy) not the Super Secret Spook for Chrysler, I think that sounds more appropriate anyway. Who else would just send me a set valve covers just because. There are not alot of guy's left around like that.

Thanks again Denny.

x2.. I do believe that kind of thing puts him in the 'great guy' catagory

If you hung around me much.....you would say the "skunk" thing fits best.....especially on Taco night!

Right Mark??

try to put in a few updates pics this weekend.....routing battery cable/interior wiring hardly worth talkin' about...yet alone takin pics....

could show pics of my cut up hands...man there sure is a lot of sharp stuff in those crannies you sneek your wiring harness thru

The way I understand it is, if you pull a holeshot and determine
that there are 2 lbs too much weight on the left rear, you open
the "ballast box" and remove and consume 2 beers; therebye
transferring that amount of weight to the driver's seat area.

:D

not a big deal....those are detachable covers for the wheel tubs....the actual wheel tubs were covered (along with the rest of the interior) with rattle guard, then 1/2 insulation pad,...then the porno red covers bolt over them to keep any noise at a minimium...and I wanted them bright red.. like the rest of the interior....this way I was able to paint them along w/ the dash and other interior hardware outside the car....the white ABS plastic cover and the rear tray will also be painted porno red....I guess I'm into that porno red...thanks Todd!

You are welcome. Porno Red FTW (For The Win), or FTMFW (For The M - F'n Win)!

Car is looking great. I am also looking forward to the Nat's and some good Ohio hillbilly cooking :D

Denny - you have any past experience with Aluminum connecting rods? For the street? I always have had some preconcieved notions, but I'm finding some opinions are different that what I have been led to believe over the years.

never had anything sporty enough to justify aluminium rods......race or street

anything to keep weight down...recipricating or dead....is OK in my book.....as long as its reliable and somewhat affordable.....seems like they would be a better fit for the shorter stroke-higher revin' smallblock boys

P.S.....take a cooler with ya in case ya run over somethin' on the way down to the nats'......it could even been layin' there a couple of days........after a few beers and some sauted onions mixed in.....them boys will never know the diff

I always believed they couldn't handle the hot/cold cycles of the street, and would fatigue somewhat quickly at highway speeds.

I bought an aluminum rod'd, 11:1, solid lifter'd, 428 (with 455 crank and pistons - esentially .030 over 428 pistons are std bore 455) Pontiac motor that was built many years ago and never fired. I really bought it for the heads, but found a pretty nice short block was underneath them. I'm thinking about slipping it in for a summer or two. I got a hell of a deal on the whole package and just looking for some input about using the rods on the street. Nobody seems to have any actual street experience with them.

Just thought I'd ask.

the hot/cold explanation makes sense....maybe Bro John has some insight...

Aluminum rods are strong and light (and good at absorbing shock)
but historically don't have the duty cycle rating for regular street
use that a good set of steel rods do.

The Eagle or Scat rods are more than strong enough for most any
real-world application. Probably as good as anything.

If you are building your once-in-a-lifetime screamer/keeper then get a
premium set of steel rods from Oliver or Carrillo.

Thanks for your input guys. It definately is not my once in a lifetime screamer. I figure this could be a low budget build to enjoy for a bit. I have everything and it's all balanced and ready to go. I still plan to tear it down to check clearances and sizing of the crank journals.

I have run Eagle H beams in my BBC for the last 12 years and 40k hard miles. I was going to do the same for the GTO, but I hit this little 'speed bump'.

OK back on track. Lets see more of the Duster's assembly.

I'm not say'n BroJohn is a know-it-all...but he pretty much does know it all

That's good to know another one of us exists :D

Will we have the honor of meeting Bro John sometime at the Nats, or is he just a rather humanistic computer located somewhere on the interweb? :toothy6:

I'm the easy one to spot....I've been told I look a lot like Geoge Clooney....or maybe it was Rosemary Clooney?
