usually by saying they are haters the labels... silence folks, but thats the world we live in especially on the web. it will get progressively worse. facebook has become ghetto and so will youtube. noone good will want to be there getting trolled while trying to share information . Tony resonates well wtih those who want to be like him bullshitting on YT and getting paid and there are alot of copycats. as far as tony i cant sit through listening to him I did at one time, that Lunar outlaw 318 and the way he screwed that young man over did it for me... you dont treat people like that, you either help or you admit you don't know and cant help.

Are the stories about the "Black Ghost" probably embellished? Of course they are! Just like any old days racing story is, the story that "the older I get the better I was" is absolutely true. Does the Black Ghost have to be faster than all the cars it raced to have racked up a bunch of wins? It doesn't actually. Street races against amateur driver's depend a lot on the skill of the driver, the fastest car definitely doesn't always win.

Bottom line is it's a really nice, single family owned hemi Challenger with some cool nostalgia behind it, and people will pay what they want to pay for that. And Tony will try to inject himself into that story, because he's trying to graft a few bucks out of it.

I wish i could convert my car to 4-5-6 speed.. but i'm lazy and don't wanna :) Black is too hard to keep clean... switched my old black grand cherokee to a white one.. never lookin back

If I remember right, the story of this car is that it raced very. very seldom but was one of the cars to beat. Seems like it was owned by a LEO, a black man. If the owner was a LEO stands to reason he raced very seldom! I saw the sale on Mecom taped and it showed a older black lady and maybe her daughter but I did not hear any of the commontary. Maybe the owners relatives that sold the car.

Maybe it is a famous car, maybe the pedigree was a big woosh.. whatever. Someone got a chit load for it and someone gave a chit load for it. I hope everyone is happy!

$$$>I got a chuckle this AM watching the taped day ? whatever of Indy Mecom. A 69 hemi Roadrunner, a root beer car goes thru for about $83,000. Then 3-4 cars later a 70 440-6 Roadrunner lime, goes thru for like $120,000! Go figure. Yea I know, one car might be a POS build and the other gold plated but.....
It is a free car show. If Mecum would mail me a bottle of good booze I would feel like one of the "be there" bidders maybe!!!

What happens with the hate is the guys who are putting out info and calling out Tony as being incorrect or making up lies get ganged up on then leave. I've seen it. that leaves Tony to keep on inferring he's an expert to the uninformed...the way I see it is YT should be a source of credible information ,does it have to be? no... I also believe in comedic entertainment which is what Tony really is. What is happening is there are alot like him starting channels trying to be like him. Tony has a real bad vindictive side...if you watch him hell talk **** and throw people under the bus,he also sends his troll after other peoples channels...it is because YT is his livelihood. Its a cutthroat business to him and his wife. The people who are called haters arent actually the ones hating...tey just dont want to be trolled because they arent UTG fans. It may sound like a bit much but, trust me thats whats going on with him he's not the nice car guy people think he is. He's not someone you'd see at Carlisle sitting behind his car and you can bullshit with...he's out for himself and to make a buck. But enough about that guy the best thing is to walk away and let the misinformed go on being misinformed...:) Tony's audience isn't using anything he says to build a car, they don't build cars...this is why he's successful. He's actually selling a persona. i wont type more because Ive said enough already but, if anyone is interested and want to see what Lunar had to say read the comments section on this YT short. Lunar is a good young man and he kept quiet for a while but read his reply where someone asks "what happened can you talk about it?"..it isnt hate all you have to do is pay attention ...I watched Tony build up his channel over COVID and I watched the people he threw under the bus and the incompetence he displays wrenching on cars. He doesn't deserve the credit he gets from people who just don't know, and he damned sure doensn't like it when folks like me call it out.

I have no idea how much he's actually earning, but clearly it's enough that he keeps doing it and not a whole lot else.

As far as how much can he be making? I know a fairly low level YT/Instagram "influencer" that makes 6 figures doing that. So, yeah, he could easily be making his living just putting out those BS videos. I don't think UTG is making that much, but maybe he doesn't need to. Beats me. I've only ever watched a couple of his videos, there was so much BS and misinformation in them I usually don't bother anymore. Wouldn't want him to get paid on my account.
 
For me its more like do I want to watch his BS or do I want to go over to that Fox Body channel and figure out some EFI/chassis/ drivetrain mods for the 86 GT. One thing interests me, Uncle Tony doesn't. Other channels Ill watch are body work channels etc. because I'm painting my Dart. Tony just has nothing to offer someone who is truly engaged in the car hobby....except used parts LOL! I would watch "how to add a super charger to a small block mopar" for example. I've found though there aren't many real good channels focused on straight info for car building. OR you have to search and dig deep to find them ,there are a few machine shop guy type videos that stuff is cool IMO. How to do heads in your home shop etc. thats the way its going I think. To stay in this hobby in the future, you'll have to know how to rebuild your own cylinder heads and transmissions etc. this is why alot of guys are doing LS6, Coyote and Hemi swaps into old car bodies.

What gets me about this thread is that there are many post on this site of "What is it worth". And the replies are "whatever someone is willing to pay". So, if someone was willing to pay $1,000,000 then that is what it is worth. Anything else is irrelevant.
As for UT, I would not do many of the things he has done to other peoples cars. But I have done some stuff that is probably just as bad to my own stuff.

My thought is that this car's rep is mostly hype. A virtually stock hemi challenger is NOT gonna be some street terror, not then, and certainly not now
Street terrors in the 70s were Addisons silver bullet, Lisk's street driven prostock challenger, and Ruggieros 505" mustang II. Tens or better, all, back when tens were fast! Any of them would trainlength a stock hemi Street car.
That said, the car probably increased $100-200k for the reputation, and if the new owner realizes it's hype, and doesn't care, and can afford the car.... more power to him! Have fun! Just don't hide it in the garage as an investment.

I read the comments in the link you posted, you're right. I was on the fence about it thinking he was just dumb but being focused on the money so much as to have malicious intent towards others who 'get in his way'? F that guy. Lunar mentions some more stuff too a few comments down. Tony deserves to be called out for what he really is.

JMO, that car is a max 350K car in great shape. It's not in great shape and the story is what bumped it to a million.

A stockish hemi car dominating the streets... OK. I'm sure it ran well, being feared, hardly. The fact that NOBODY from back then seems to recall this being even remotely active says it all.
Like asking someone in LA if they know who Boyd, Mark Washington, Junior, Dirty Ronnie, Baseball, Groucho, Cripple Kevin, bottle bob etc are and the cars they were running back in the late 70's into the 80's. If they have no idea who those guys were, then they were hang arounds.

Tony wants clicks to pay for his habits, no thanks on that from me. Frame connectors are bad, ask tony, carry on.

I agree this thread really isn't about the cars value but more about peoples distaste for UT.
 
Knew Boyd well, certainly knew of the others. Lost a race to Dirty Ronnie. Marks Luv truck was fast.
Last I heard, Boyd is running a dirt brown omni sleeper, 7s in the 1/8. Not as fast as his Vega or Novas, still quick.
