Hi, I now have a shifter hump, and an A833 for my '63 Dart. The shifter which came with the trans was just pulled out of a box by the seller of the A833~ I actually don't know if the shifter is any good or not. The shifter does not fit the shifter plate on the transmission. Plus the shifter rods are too long. So, that being said, I'd like a shifter or advice is always nice too. I feel I need the shifter to install the hump correctly.
thanks

Hi looks like a pickup/van shifter you can tell by the grease fitting, it is a hurst and with the correct mounting plate & linkage rods it should work
hope this helps.

THank you Joe, that gives me a little hope, just need to find the plate which bolts onto the trans;)

The 'early' hurst shifter body and handle are different. I have what you need but will have to take photos of what I am talking about.

oh crap, this puts me in a pickle, since 66fs responded first, I should see what he has to say first? and what is a "console" Abody?
Here’s the shifter HURST NUMBER 45496 no worries if he’s got what you need. I have it if need be.

I DID NOT KNOW THERE IS A CONSOLE! lol I'm interested in this, and in the fact I could have a console, granted that they can be found?

NO , 63s did not have a console, welcome to learning from the posts on a website.

Hi;) This is what I have.

"Are you going to run a Standard or Overdrive transmission? What linkage rods do you have?"
What's the difference between a standard vs overdrive? I have a 4 speed right? The shifter which was basically given to me doesn't fit the shifter mount. I have no linkage.
The shifter you posted looks really nice, but~ I'll give you a call around 10ish, I'm headed out to cut some of the tunnel for my "new" shifter hump;)

Is this yours? I'm a little confused

I'll guess that is a 66 A-Body Standard 4 speed trans. What is the casting number on the tail housing? The shifter mounting plate looks like an Inland. That is why the 68 up shifter is not positioned correctly on an early A-Body. Probably tight through the small 64-65 hole in the hump. Yes, that is my Inland shifter assy on one of my transmissions.

I just did this on my 66 valiant. It was a daunting task. I would definitely recommend having the shifter installed to place the hump correctly. Also shift the shifter in all gears before attaching the hump to the floor to check clearance. Don’t ask me how I know that I’m still mentally scarred. I do have a hurst shifter handle and a bezel from a 65 barracuda I will not be using if I can acquire a console 4 speed shifter at a reasonable price. I found a console but the b-body shifter I have won’t work with the a body it hits the dash. The handle is an a body hurst with the t handle. I don’t have a pic n my phone.

Thank you Heather, I have parts coming, shifter, handle, linkage, etc. Not on the way yet, but soon I hope. Yes, I will not be bolting/welding the hump down for a long time. I understand the mental scarring and labor to fix that(omg). It is an amazing amount of work, a challenge, and I could not have done this without so many people from here helping;) Join me on my build;)

My build and recent cutting of the floor for the shifter:)

The shifter mount that was on your transmission when you got it is for an Inland shifter, which you absolutely do not want. @66fs has the entire exact setup you want. If for some reason that falls through, I have the same parts (I'd just have to find 'em all!). I think mine has the plain black ball the factory used with the shift-pattern bezel shown in @HeatherHoward's photo.
