AlV 69 Dodge GTS project

Had to send the Radiator out to get recored because it started to weep at the to tank. 3 rows with increased fin count.

Can't wait to see it. I'll take this time to correct the heater lines and swap the 160 stat with a 180.

Just curious- How much are they charging you for the re-core? If you don't mind of course.

Well it's going to be 400 out the door. Ouch!

That includes the new 3 row copper core with increased fin count. Clean and repair brass tanks, oil cooler w/ new firings and frame.

It'll look original but have greater heat transfer, have the original tanks with numbers and fit perfectly back in the car.

Man you're always thinkin' Great plan to make it cool better but look right!
Thanks man. It was the only way to go for me. A reproduction piece is almost the same price.
If I had taken another route with the car I might have picked up an aluminum rad with electric fans.

My factory 2949 068 22" radiator is back from the shop with the New high efficiency core installed. I've kept the original frame and tanks so the numbers are correct.

I couldn't increase to 4 rows because there was no room left in the tank.
So we increased the tube count by decreasing the spacing from 9/16 to 3/8 and increasing the fin count from 8 per inch to 12 per inch.

These changes effectively increase surface area for cooking by roughly 25% so it's like having a 4th row :)

Here is a great primer on High Effeiciency radiator cores

Great Job Al. Your patients and attention to detail have most defiantly paid off big dividends! Any plans for making the Nats this year?

As you know this was my first attempt at building a car, it's not perfect but I am very pleased with it.
Not sure about the Nats this year I have to check my family vacation and make sure the car is tip top if I plan to drive it.

Are you planning to go?

Just got back from Carlisle. Super show by the way. If I can't find a tinted left door glass, I'll make the trip to look for one. If I find one before, I'll stay home and Waite to take the car next year.

Or Fore and Aft. lol Either way it's looking pretty sweet!

It turns out the UCA mounts are fine.. Less than an eight difference between the sides nothing to worry about....I was relieved lol.

I found a replacement Arm so we're good to go.

What kind of undercoating is that?
