Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback

^^^^ Lmao....^^^^^ Always loved the smaller, more informal car "get -togethers"... Those are the ones I enjoy,& remember the most

I still wish there'd been a better turn out but it was a lot more relaxed atmosphere than the bigger shows. Most of the people were more interested in getting chicken than sticking around their cars. It seemed a lot like being out for a cruise 40 years ago and stopping for food. I did have a good time.

Happy you had a good time and the weather turned out for the best.
nice of you to help out your buddy and get the carpet installed as well. Sounds like a great day to me.

That's really cool, there is a informal car show every Saturday in a strip mall parking lot here in WV.
Normal evening is about 50 to 200+ cars.
There is no fee to get in, they kinda of reserve about 1/3 of the parking lot for just old cars.
There is plenty of parking for people just driving up in their daily drivers.
The cool thing is that there is a couple of great restaurants in the same strip mall.
The restaurants love the business and it is a family atmosphere.
Me and the the wife take a couple of cars / jeeps over a couple of times a month.
All it costs me is dinner for my family.

Sounds awesome!
Over here on the LEFT coast it's frowned upon to burn gas. L.O.L!!!!
Ok, it's not that bad but it sure seems like there aren't to many places to hold inpromp too car meets without a million or more dollars of insurance.

Ray and I go back a long way. I have to stay on his good side if I'll ever have a chance to buy my old Sixpack Superbee back from him. LOL.

I like to go to the big car shows to see the huge variety of cars but truth is that I usually enjoy myself more at the smaller show & shines. It seems as though the smaller get-togethers give you more time to shoot the breeze with other car guys and you don't have to fight the big crowds.

The mayor in the town that we're fixing up that house has said that he'd like to see all the old gas guzzlers disappear. He has been singling out all of the car guys when it comes to enforcing city statutes. You're ten times more likely to be scrutinized if you've got a nice 60s car on your yard than if you've got a crusty Honda. - He drives new SUVs.

It a good time, things are a little different on the East coast, towns here are only about 20 miles apart so not much fuel burned.
I can drive my RT Challenger to work and back for a month on a tank of gas, hence the low mileage on all my cars.
Insurance not sure, but it been going on for over 25 years, and I have never seen the cops there.

I swear that this house gets bigger every time I go there to paint. It wouldn't take so long but after scraping it I've had to sand a lot of the siding. - And then caulking every one of those damn boards takes forever. I wish I had new stuff to post about the cars but it ain't so.

LOL. I wish this house was more than a money pit. It's been a nightmare. Vandalism and theft has cost me thousands. I've probably replaced over 30 windows in it over the past 10 years. Every light and plumbing fixture was destroyed. Vandals spray painted the interior walls and gouged the wooden floors. When I purchased new supplies (new fixtures and wiring supplies) they were stolen. There was a lot of gingerbread trim on the inside next to the big sliding doors and they cut it out and stole it. They destroyed the new stove and refrigerator that I had.

The vandalism has practically bankrupted me. I was outraged when the mayor and city council ordered that the house be demolished. Every time we made progress we were set back by new damage to it. A lot of the damage to it was done by some of their kids.

I never had the funds to completely renovate the house so I'd attempted to do it in dribs and drabs as I could afford. It always seemed like two steps forward and three steps back. Problems started when Teresa's Hispanic brother-in-law began helping us with yard work. I received a call from one of the city council members threatening me if I was to sell it to any 'Mexicans'. Although the threat wasn't specific, they promised that they would make me regret the decision. I hadn't had a plan to sell it to any specific buyer but they assumed Teresa's brother-in-law was going to be the new owner. Most of the people in this town are great but there's a few assholes. The people that have gotten in charge are the tree hugger type that preach liberal crap and make it sound as though they are for equal rights for everyone (but they don't want some living in THEIR community).

Sorry for my rant but I'm sick of dealing with some of these people. It's sad because there really are a lot of decent neighbors there. My hope is to finish the house, sell it, and put the money into my folk's old farm acreage. I can't wait to move back out to the farm where the only neighbors I have to deal with are cattle.

No problem with sounding off, that's what where here for. I hope your able to re-coupe your dough. I use too live in a deed restricted neighborhood and that really blew. I live in a neighborhood now with know restrictions, but I would rather be out of city limits. I hope it works out for you.

It's ironic that the same people that threatened me and warned that crime would go up if Hispanics moved into the neighborhood look the other way when it's their Caucasian kids are committing the crimes. I don't care if my neighbors are green or purple. - As long as they're honest and not A-holes.

As I was scraping the house yesterday my mind wandered. It occurred to me that I didn't know when Opposite Day was. I looked it up when I got home. Apparently it was on January 25th. Dang! I missed the opportunity to tell everyone what a great guy SNKEBIT is.

I believe you are still OK, the month of May is "Fingers Crossed Behind Your Back" month.:D

Not much new going on with things other than house drudgery. I did manage to buy a 1/16th scale diecast Duster off of eBay today. I'd been looking at them for awhile and managed to get a good price on one finally. I want to modify it to look similar to my '72. That way I can display it next to my diecast Barracuda. I even have a scale christmas tree to set up with them.

Heck,if it needs to be done, get it over with. That way, more summer fun/play time.

As big as this house project is I'll be lucky to have any free time for the next two Summers. It's pretty much a one man total house renovation.

Every wall needs to be sheet rocked (you could live with it but the old lathe plaster is showing it's age).

The plumbing replaced (because I'm installing new fixtures and relocating them).

Whole house rewiring (it's an old house and originally had very few outlets).

All new argon filled double pane windows (no sense in keeping those drafty originals).

Floors refinished (repairing the vandalism and installing carpeting).

Foundation repair (the old brick basement leaks like a sieve).

All new light fixtures (going with a lot of stained glass fixtures to replace the ones the vandals destroyed).

Etc, etc...

Be careful with the lathe and plaster.
It most likely contains asbestos.

Spending too much money on a house, John. Spend more on the cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:violent1:

House is looking good, you want to paint mine?
I have a 48' ladder and you cannot reach the peaks.
Its on flat ground but I am afraid of heights.
I will feed you T-bones and Porterhouse every night.
