Anybody running 17" Cobra Bullit rims on a Duster

-
Well, my new Firm Feel upper control arms came in the mail, so tomorrow I'm gonna remove the RMS tubular uppers and give these ones a try and see if they will give me the clearance I need.

keep us posted! that is the last thing i need to get from dick (Firm Feel) and i think i will be done. they have my steering box right now doing a stage three to it.

It WORKS!!!! I installed the new FF uppers today and EVERYTHING clears!!! I am able to reach full turn lock to lock without the rims interfering with the upper control arms!!! I also installed the B-body rear axle into my car, along with the new QA1 shocks! It looks good!! Time for an alignment! Here are some pics...

My new rebuilt B-body 8 3/4. It has new Green Bearings and seals from Doctor Diff. All new brake drums and shoes, new wheel cylinders and brake hardware, and new brake lines. Cleaned up the 742 pumpkin with 355 clutch type sure grip, and I moved the spring pads in 1/2".

Here it is on the ground, with my old 489 case open 294 8 3/4

Looks great! I have got to find a set of these wheels! The sticker on the rear-end is pure genius!Awesome!

what bill didnt come through?

No, he did...But BEFORE he told me, I already ordered the ones from firm feel...Then a week later after I ordered them, Bill emails me saying he's gonna make a new set for me to try out...So, I got the Firm Feel units in the mail, and thought I'd give them a try. I don't know how much longer I have to wait for the ones from Bill, so, I put these ones on...I'm guessing a week or so at least for the arms from bill... Now I'm stuck with an extra set of tubular uppers...if I have no luck in returning them, I'll put 'em up for sale for $15 less than what they go for...If that's fair...

Just thought i'd Show everyone my my spin on using the Musdstain bullit wheels. These are off a Mach1, the rear is just sitting there now, I still need to build a rearend to width, I still have the SBP 7.25 in there.

Mopardude,
Are those A-arms better than the other ones he makes for clearance? Without having them side by side, I couldn't tell you how they were changed... I guess the originals bowed out more towards the UBJ, but it seems like they could have been made narrower and still have enough meat in the ends to let the heims screw in. If using bushings, could probably go even further. I'll shut up before it starts to look like I'm armchair engineering these things that I'm sure Bill has scienced out very well...

Red383, those wheels look great! Magnums look great on Darts/Scamps IMHO.

CLAIR you are correct. The older design was more shaped like a "U". The ne ones are more like the typical "V". The rod ends and regular bushings can be used on these new ones just like the previous ones. Here's a comparison of old on top, new on bottom:

They still allow the coil over to pass through them...

Ah, coil over. Good point - the world doesn't revolve just around us t-bar types over in Bill's world... :read2:

he make nice products. having said that, i hope the finished product has gussets on the ball joint end as an extra measure of strength. visions of those broken arms from CAP are still fresh in my little mind.

Sold the car before I even had a chance to put them on once...Oh well, I guess they'll have to wait for the next project :-D

Since I started all of this I figured I'd give an update

Finally found something to put the wheels I got from wracks on - they are now residing on the front of my 88 Dodge Ram Charger. I swapped the rotors to the 83 style with 5x4.5" bolt pattern and used a 1/4 spacer to clear the UCA. I'll post some pics later today or tomorrow. I plan on putting the same thing in the rear once I can find a cheap pair and then putting on some tires with a little more sidewall...

As in the suv type ramcharger?

Yes, 17x8 with 5.72 backspace, same as the bullits.I should give a little more detail though. My fronts are currently mounted on a custom hub with a 13" rotor, (actully on a drum brake spindle in the pics). I will be installing the 73 up Disc brake spindle and doing more test fitting. I plan on using a 2005 Viper caliper (not it the pics). The tires in the pics are 245-45-17

For the rear, I have an e-body 8.75" to cut down to my specs, I just haven't got to that yet.

I'll give everyone the final details once I get them worked out.

Another pic.....

Looking real good, do you plan on running the same size tire front and back?
On my 65 Cuda I have 275's on the rear, so I think you could go wider on the back.

Not sure on final tire size yet. Since it's going to be a street driver,my first thought is same size all around. But nothing is set in stone yet. It appears I could go bigger in the back if I want.
