I`ve been shooting/hunting all my life , u cant tell me a 22 ,w/ hollow points , will do more damage than a 38 w/ hollow points -no way .
A 38 is still legal for use by most police forces around the nation , but the smallest round acceptable .
That being said , I dam sure wouldnt want a 22 busted on me either !
 
Ruger P89 is what I carry in the console of my truck. I have always liked it because the safety is ambidextrous. For a concealed weapon if you shoot a lot and get real familiar with it a 380 such as a LCP by ruger or I carry a S&W Bodygaurd with laser point. If your not in to guns and seldom shoot I would suggest a Hammer less 380 or 9mm. In a emergency pull and squeeze. Like a S&W air weight 38 special.
 
I carry a colt mustang in 380, inside my waist band. If I’m in a light t shirt, I have a two shot derringer in 22 mag.

The 38 rounds don't fragment like the .22 Mag rounds. I'm not arguing the point, or saying one does more damage. I didn't say that. I simply told yall what all of my LEO friends say. Collectively. The .22 MAGNUM is a serious round for a small arm.
 
Smith and Wesson Shield is a good option. I like the 45acp version but it can be a handful with full house loads

A few yrs back, a disgruntled ex employee walked in a chicken place in Tulsa, emptied a 380 semi auto twice , did not kill a sole !

Agree , but is not a legal firearm round for Tulsa police --or any others as far as I know.
 
Revolver.
It goes bang every time regardless of ammunition .
Jam proof and no guess work about if it's loaded
Police need 18 shots, I don't.
I'm not fighting drug gangs.
Any gun will hit from 10 feet.
If it's over 10 feet, my plan is to run and shoot over my shoulder.
I didn't say it's a good plan.
If they still made the Charter Arm Under Cover.....

Have you ever had your P89 not completely eject the casing and jam it. This one would do that every 20 or 25 shots. Local Gun Shop sent it back to the Factory and they sent it back saying they shot 50 rounds without a problem. They indicated maybe bad Ammo. Took it home and put it away and haven't shot it since. Probably should try some different Ammo and see what happens.

Those Colt Mustangs are very cool. And well…. I did name one son Colt so perhaps I am a bit biased. We were sitting at a bar one evening and he asked me why I named him Colt? I explained to him that I named him after the only thing I had ever slept with that did not betray me ( think USMC and a desert and a M16) After a long awkward pause he exclaimed “ your talking about Mom” I replied yep, sure am.

I have an old 22 semi-auto long gun that my dad and his brother bought when they were young, I shot some mexican made 22 shells in it when I lived in calif., they hung up and would not eject.
I have always had better luck w/ remingtom shells , never had a problem w/ any of them .
 
I'd rather use the K-bar if I could. Ammunition is getting costly. lol
At 15 feet it's an option.
The best carry is the one you can conceal and fire within 3 seconds

I had a friend of that owned a pawn shop and had his FFL and sold guns. He took a brand new P89 Ruger and loaded it with every kind of ammo he had starting with a empty 9mm case. He told me take it home and if it jams bring it back, if not buy it. Which is what I did. It fired every round and feed the empty case! That is the gun in my console. But to answer your question, no I've never had it jam. Mine is probably 35 years old. though I don't shoot it with any regularity.
 
There are so many good self defense weapons. But when you have one second to react and maybe someone's already has you on the ground or is attacking you from the side I for one do not want to worry about a safety or loading a chamber with a revolver you only have one thing to worry about squeeze the trigger until you're finished.

Agree, I just cant force myself to carry one in the chamber on a semi auto , especially one that doesnt have a safety .
 
You can carry the largest round you want. It won't do you a lick of good if you cannot hit your target.

9 out of 10 times that is a "limp wrist" issue

just not holding the gun tight enough allowing it to jerk a little
 
I’ve picked 9mm rounds from my friends striker fired 9 that did not fire, put them in my CZ 75 compact, pulled the trigger and fired them... Most people don’t know that CZ 75’s are the most carried pistol by police in the world....
