Best weapon for Concealed Carry advise

Smith and Wesson Shield is a good option. I like the 45acp version but it can be a handful with full house loads

I carry a S&W M&P Shield 1.0 in 45acp. I went thru dozens of guns at the range before deciding on my EDC. I like big, slow, damaging rounds, so 45acp is my thing. You need to be ready for it, it does kick pretty good, but with practice what I aim out goes down, full stop. Pretty much my definition of a carry gun. I haven’t left the house without it in years. It gets 100 rounds thru it every week, I clean it after range time and once in the middle of the week. I have never not had a round fire. I love my gun……

I think you probably just hit the nail on the head. I never had much to do with handguns before.
If that is the case, it may carry over and present itself on different semiautomatics...but revolvers don't have that issue

Just something to consider

If that's the case, you want a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44mag with a 10.5 " barrel.
They'd run as soon as you pulled it out. lol

Back when I was much younger, when the 1st "Dirty Harry" movie came out-I just had to have a big handgun. I saved for a few months and bought a 44 Magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk with the 10 1/2 inch barrel. I have wondered if they make a conceal holster for it. To most, it is very intimidating. I know there are a lot larger handguns out there today, but in the '70's it was the king. Many years ago, I found some 300 gr. hollow point slugs, had a friend reload 100 rounds for me. That's my home defense!

You can get a nice shoulder holster for it. I carried my S&W 500 in one.

I have a revolver and semi automatic, both have their purposes. Depends on what your end goal is.

38 special Smith & Wesson snub nose. I also have a Smith & Wesson shield 9 which is a nice little carry
I love this thing. Talk about a sweet shooter. And so handsome! Even better with the Hogue grips, but adds a bit of bulk for that extra finger.

That looks very interesting and what I'm looking for

I started carrying several years ago. My wife got interested so she went a shop and they had her fire about 10 different weapons. She settled on the Glock 43. As far as concealed I usually carry my Glock in the cargo pocket on pants. Works great for me.

this is also something to consider

if you are in your vehicle, AND the weapon is holstered, most of the times you cant easily get at it
BUT wit a should holster, you just might get at it before its too late

as far as EDC goes, i find a inside the waiste band holster works best for me, about the 7 oclock position with a stylish hawaiian shirt covering the exposed part (of the gun, not my plumbers crack) works well

I got Kitty a similar one years ago. It was the .357 Airlite. VERY light. TOO light. It had way too much recoil for her and hurt her hand. It's gone now. lol

Which is why when we're in the car, mine is in my lap. ESPECIALLY when riding through Macon.

I should note that a fellow veteran friend of mine who happens to have lots of combat experience with fire arms gave my wife some good advice before she settled on a weapon.

PM me and I’ll give you the number of a guy that runs a range over in Avondale.

Although I live in an Open Carry State I feel uncomfortable showing the whole world I have a weapon on me. Right now I have a 9MM Ruger P89 that feels to cumbersome to conceal. Besides I've never really liked it that well. I'm not well versed in handguns at all and plan to attend local classes here to gain the knowledge I need. What I'm asking is for suggestions for a good Pistol to carry that doesn't cost the National Debt to buy.
Ruger LCR chambered in .22 Mag
I distrust semi auto pistols for a life or death conceal carry.
I own multi fine good shooting semi auto pistols none of which I use for a carry option, too big to heavy and can be un reliable if not properly cared for, something which most of us are guilty of. Now a semi auto for a truck gun or home defense that is a different story.

That is a very good point too. Mrs. Big John has a LCP that she doesn't like to shoot. Great carry gun, but not good for her to put boxes of ammo through at the range, so not a good gun for her to carry on a regular basis. On the other hand, I like my LCP and get a kick out of shooting it, so it's a good gun for me. I like my revolvers better, but that's another story.

I think it's been repeated here a few times.. You need to be comfortable with it in your hand. You also need to be comfortable at the range with it. I like to know that I've put at least a hundred rounds with no hiccups through any semi-auto before I would trust it to fire when my life depended on it. That's one factor. The other is that a gun that's I don't like to shoot won't get brought out when I'm at the range. You need to be comfortable shooting what you carry.

If I go plinking with the .22 revolver (lot's of fun), I at least run a couple loads of practice ammo through my carry gun.

Kitty simply doesn't have the hand strength to rack the slide on a semi auto. At least we've not found one yet. We've gone through a lot of them too.
