Brazilian Dodge Dart 76 (similar to 69 usa)

-
Hi Alex. Nice work! Are there a lot of 3 speed gear boxes in Brazil?

Almost all dodges A body in brazil came with manual gearbox.
I think all sedans came with colum shifter 3 speed manual gearbox

in Dodge Dart (as mine).. 4 speed floor shifter was an optional
Dart SE (as my new rust car) came with 3 speed floor shifter

All Brazilian Dodge Chargers came with 4 speed floor shifter
I think all 2 door after 1979 also used to be 4 speed.. but in the early 80's, A bodies was almost dead heare

Concluding.. I think about 80% of brazilian dodges came with 3 speed shifter

You're absolutely right, mister !!!

The great majority of brazilian A-bodies came with the "three-on-a-tree" combo, and some had it changes in its life too...
Alex, I look to your thread every week and I'm really glad you had so good job on your beloved Mopar, just keep up with the working, my friend !!
Hope to meet you with this famous Dodge on a Mopar Nats soon, fella !!!

I have to commend your work! I know how hard it is to do my car, but to do what you did in a parking garage is amazing! Good luck to you!

You have some amazing ingenuity! Heres some help for gasket making. Have a very sharp knife handy! For punching holes,I found used bullet cases great for the job. Just go to the local gun range and pick up a wide variety.

Quiet hard to find bullet cases here in Brazil. Gun laws are too hard (just for right citzens, not for thieves).. I asked a cop friend right now if it is possible to get some from the praticing police room.

I use a nice sharp knife.. sometimes get my hand cutted :toothy10:

To make big holes, I use an old compass.. than I follow line with the sharp knife.. I get pretty good holes doing this (not perfect)

today I'm finishing my carb.. perhaps I also work on gearbox.

Wow tough gun laws there huh? Well good luck getting bullet cases then. Perhaps your friend will give you some. Bullet cases have a nice clean sharp mouth and make nice holes. Get a good variety for different sizes.

I went downtown and bought new gaskets to my 3 speed gearbox

also bought some stainless screws and nuts. I will use them in my intake and suspension. Also bought new screws to hold gearbox in place.

make sure to use anit sieze on those stainless bolts stainless steel and steel do not like each other,,,

Hi, thanks very much for your advice
I used anti seize on my intake.. there is the only place where stainless bolts and other metal get contact fully..

I'm looking at google and I notice that anti seize can be used in a lot of parts..

make sure to use anit sieze on those stainless bolts stainless steel and steel do not like each other,,,

I'm finishing it.. Just have to tie some nuts and bolts

new job

I'm moving for a better life but, as any change in life, I'm having some hard work. New city is about 200 miles far from my current home. My wife and daughter aren't enjoying "new life".. to avoid stress, I will let my car at a friend car body shop (in Brazil, most of car bodies shops are poor with a few equipments). But my friend is able to paint my car at a good price...

Good news are: I'll be closer to my parents (and my wife also will be closer to her parents). I'll have a much much much better job.. I will buy a house in a few months

Alex, why do you have to move? Trouble with nieghbours?

Sounds great! I wish you good luck in your new job. I suppose the car will have to wait until you and yours are all settled in. Thats not so bad .My own 1970 Dodge Dart has been waiting 17 years now.

so what is the old job and what is the new??? i am a printer,,,and ide love a new job,,,,,,,

Here in current city (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) I worked at a Catolical University as computer science professor (teacher?). Now I'm moving to a smaller town (Juiz de Fora, Brazil), to work at a Federal University as professor/researcher;

I think I will have to use an spacer or adapter plate

pay attention to the front of the base carb gasket and to the intake.. intake has a small "cut".. thus, my carb base is bigger than the intake

Congratulations on your promotion , Alex ! :cheers::cheers::cheers: !!!

On your carb gasket : it almost looks like it s a fuel bowl-to-throttle body gasket ... but , then again , what do I know ?
