Did you just lay up carbon fiber on a gas tank?

Hi MuuMuuu, it's not carbon fiber.
It's a mat used to soundproofing trucks. This mat has an adhesive. After we place it, we mold it using a heating gun. I think that mat core is made by a kind of asphalt. It melts easily when we heat it. Upper layer seem to have a plastic (or rubber) layer.

All my car roof has been isolated with this material. Now I have to glue it on doors and rear panels.

I bought these headers...

don't know how to install them yet.

I'm took a small pause to dream with the rest of the exhaust system

Straight pipes?

Your gonna risk the wrath of the tree huggers?

Says the man with cut outs....

todo está bien

probably I will use mufflers... But I have to save money for a while :D :D

the problem with straight pipes is noise. A 2 hour travel will turn into a 1:30 hour of wife torture

Being married myself I would concur and If my math is correct that would equate into a week of pay back misery for you...maybe a week and a day.

I digress.

Great work Alex. I just spent 3 hours going thru all the posts here and I'm amazed at the work you have done on your car. Like the others, I love the looks of the MOPAR's down there. :) Can't wait to see your car done and on the road.

hi Jim
thanks for you kind words

I'm trying to have fun. I'm too anxious and this make me crazy sometimes.
This week I'll post a few more photos.

car is on stands. I'm completely busy these days. A lot of deadlines.

I have to remove a few things to install headers.
Removed nuts from idle arm on track bar..
I do not have a pivot remover. Will hammer it :D

tips are welcome

everything is "out".

I used a tinny precision tool to remove steering parts.

Unfortunately... tie rods dust seals are damage. New parts, never been on the road... :protest::protest::protest:

Alex; Have spent the last week or so going through your thread. First let me say that like many others I am very impressed. You have more ingenuity than any three people I know and I know a lot of people with ingenuity. You've inspired me to get back in gear on my restoration which is almost complete after 22 years, yes you read that right, 22 years. I've gotten sidetracked and discouraged more times than I care to admit to. Keep up the good work and never give up, ever! As for those headers, if it were me I would nix the idea. Putting headers on an A body is the biggest pain in the a-- that I can think of. If memory serves me correctly the best way to install them is to jack the engine up I believe on the drivers side first, at an angle and once you have the header in between that tight space none as the torsion bar you will have to let the engine down to rest on the header. Make sure it is bolted up loosely, than lift the passenger side of the engine and hope like h--l you can squeeze the header down between the torsion bar. You will have to lift the engine rather high
as I recall. Anyway, good luck and hope to see you get this finished.

Driver side was easy task.
Just lifted engine and headers entered in engine bay smoothly.

the other side, gave me a bit work. TIP: read the f* manual.
I have to removed all.. oil filter and its bracket. I had to lift car a bit more.. and also lift the engine more than I did on driver side.

ps: just remember.. on both sides, headers must came from bottom

It has great floor clearance till you remove the jack stands. :D

Just be careful over speed bumps and you will be fine. Super close to firing that baby up aren't you?

Super close to fire it up... but... radiator is leaking! dammit

Well sand the crust off and solder it! You know how to do everything else so this should be a piece of cake.c :D

Sometimes, I'm disappointed...
rear bumper doesn't fit well.

IMG_5243.JPG

rear bumper brackets does not allow me to adjust. They have fixed lengths.

I'm thinking I will trim these brackets

Looking good. I say get it together and running then go back and fine tune things like the bumper etc. I know how long you have been working and I'm sure your ready to drive.

Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas.
